Please be advised that on Friday, May 5th at 4pm, the NextGen/PACIS system will shut down for the 5.8 UD3 system upgrade. We thank you for taking the time to test the new features and enhancements within the upcoming NextGen version. You should

test your regular day-to-day workflow in the Sandbox environment beginning April 7th through April 27th.

Should you encounter any problems, please submit a description of the issue/errors found via email to

[email protected] with the subject line: 5.8 UD3 –Issue including your practice name and contact

information.

1. Logon to your NextGen server as you would normally and locate

and select the Sandbox ICON.

2. Select Connect

3. Logon to Windows (Use your usual NG Windows credentials)

How to Enter 12 or more Diagnoses

1. Biller Accepts Charges from EHR

2. The first 4 diagnosis will display on the charge entry window. (Provider can drop up to 12 diagnosis) 3. To view Diagnosis 5-12 go to the Encounter Diagnosis Icon. (All 12 diagnosis if dropped will appear) 4. If not all diagnosis were dropped, you can add up to 12 diagnosis, in the Encounter Diagnosis window and move to the right. 5. Bill Encounter

6. Claim is created upon billing encounter All 12 Diagnosis will populate on CMS 1500 Claim and in the EDI File which you upload to the Clearinghouse.

For more than 12-Diagnosis, follow steps 1- 5 and then add diagnosis 13+ in the Narr/Dunn field (it will populate in Box 19 on CMS 1500 form)

All 13+ diagnosis will display on the claim.

Don’t Take The Shortcut home

Don’t use your shortcut on May 8th! Don’t use your NextGen Practice Management, or EHR Shortcut beginning on May 8th Your shortcut will be pointing to the incorrect update, therefore you may see error messages and even seem to be missing documents or scanned images.

On Monday, May 8th, this is how to launch NextGen post upgrade and save your shortcuts: 1. Once you login to NextGen; Click the Start button found in the bottom left

corner of the NextGen desktop. 2. Find the NextGen 5 icon or type in “NextGen” under the search programs

and files box if it does not appear. 3. Double click on the NextGen 5 icon to open Nextgen.

To Save your Shortcuts: 4. Continue with Steps 1 -3 above and the NextGen Menu Item appears. 5. Select “Create Shortcuts/Menu Items” 6. Select OK. The new Shortcuts will now appear on your Desktop pointing to the new 5.8 UD3 update

Care Guidelines Hop-Up

The Care Guidelines pop-up

templates are used to handle Health

Maintenance and Disease

Management functions. This includes

guideline testing and screening,

and recommended care.

To open the Care Guidelines

templates:

1. Open the Patient Chart.

a. Click the Care Guidelines

active text link.

b. The Care Guidelines

template will launch.

c. Select “Add/Update”

to add

the Guidelines.

2. Click in the Conditions and

select “Health Maintenance” for general health guide-lines.

3. Save & Close. 4. The Care Guidelines Paged

view template shows every item that is part of an active guideline whether it is due or not. This allows providers to see what is part of the guideline set. If you want to change an Interval, Start Age or Stop Age, you can. The Paged View template offers basic functionality for activating and tracking guidelines for the patient.

MIPS REPORTS

The MIPS reports for Quality and Advancing Care Information (ACI) are now available in the NextGen HQM Portal.

Reports have been set up for the first 90 days of the year, January 1 to March 31, 2017.

You may begin running your reports beginning Monday April 17, 2017.

1. Go to https://qpp.cms.gov/measures/performance and to select the measures you wish to report on for each category.

2. Follow instructions to select the Quality Measures you wish to report.

3. Follow instructions to select the ACI Measures you wish to report.

4. Go to the NextGen HQM Portal and run the 2017 reports.
