    Who does what ?

    Standardising body: develops the standard:it can be the NGB or another organisation

    The National Governing Body: runs the system

    member of the PEFC Council

    The Certification Body (CB): does the audits

    of the forest management or CoC against the standard of the NGB

    The Accreditation Body (AB): develops a programme under

    which the CB are accredited to be allowed to do the audits

    Your organisation

    A National Governing Body has to:

    a) Be a legal entity;

    b) Have its own statutes which do not conflict with the PEFC

    Council statutes;

    c) Include amongst its objectives the implementation of the

    PEFC System within its country;

    d) Have made a commitment to follow the PEFC Council rules

    and requirements;

    e) Have support of national forest owners or a national forestry

    organization;

    f) Provide participating interested parties with a fair, ongoing and

    appropriate possibility to influence the organizations decision

    making.

    Benefits to becoming a PEFC member:

    Vote in the PEFC General Assembly;

    Accessing and collaborating with an alliance of global leaders

    and experts on SFM, and representatives of other countries

    Systems from all over the world; Administer PEFC Chain of Custody certification in your country

    with income-generating potential;

    Ongoing access to support, training and advice from PEFC;

    Participating in PEFC Council annual meetings and events toshare experiences and learn together with other members;

    Logo, website, etc.

    CoC certification management ;

    FM certification management ;

    Certificate database maintenance ;

    Invoicing ;

    Membership payment ; Periodic revision of the standard ;

    Promotion of certification ;

    functionning.
