Two rubric options – one is made to attach to the flipbook and one is a

simple half-page. There are also adaptable versions so that you can set your own weights and totals.

Using the PowerPoint Component

This packet also contains a PowerPoint to help your students make their flipbooks easily. This includes step-by-step instructions with a visual aide. PPT Contents: Slides 1-9: Constructing the Flipbook Slides 10-21: Project Requirements (labeling the flaps, requirements for each section, and brainstorming for the analysis) You can edit many components of this PowerPoint: *The overall design theme, etc. in the second part *The flap labels to suit your needs *The requirements for each flap *The symbolism examples used. Also, remember to choose whether or not your students will cut the book in half. If not, delete the “optional” slide and the text box instructing students to make one book per pair. Following this page, you’ll find “Flipbook Notes” that you can use with your students as you discuss the project requirements. You’ll also find the Notes & the Rubric on the same page in case you prefer to distribute these at the same time.

Each flap is accompanied by a “requirements” slide,

explaining your expectations for each page of the flipbook. These are also editable to suit

your needs.

I use basic examples in this PPT to illustrate the

requirements, but you can reuse examples that your

students have seen in class.

This step-by-step process ensures that students create a product that meets your learning

targets. Don’t forget: you can edit all requirements or

use “as is”.

This “notes” handout allows students to follow along with the

PPT and write down the requirements and flap headings.

Then, they can check off the requirements when they’ve

completed the flap.

If you want one project handout per student, here’s a handy

combo sheet that includes the notes page and the project

rubric.
