•Sylvia Plath was married to the British poet of Ted Hughes on June 16th, 1956

•At aged 20, Plath attempted a suicide by swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills and disappearing into a hole in the wall of her cellar. She was found 2 days later by her mother and made a full recovery at the Mclean Hospital in Massachusetts.

•Ted & Sylvia had two children, Frieda & Nicholas. Frieda is a well known English poet & painter and Nicholas a fisheries biologist.

•18 years after Sylvia’s death she won the Pulitzer prize (an awards for poets) for ‘The Collected Poems of Sylvia Plath

•She was 8 years old when her father died due to complication following the amputation of his foot

•Sylvia was born during the great depression (in 1932)
