    Miller and Marylees Miller, 2004, ISBN 0-13-142706-7.

    Ulearn: Some teaching materials will be uploaded to Ulearn.

    Chapter 8: Sampling distributions

    Chapter 10: Point estimationChapter 11: Intervals estimation

    Chapter 12: Hypothesis testing

    Homework:

    Homework will be assigned regularly. Your homework solutions should be organized and neat with

    solutions in the order according to which problems were assigned. I will penalize homework that is not

    clearly legible and out of order. Late homework will not be graded.

    I will collect homework one week after the end of each chapter. Generally speaking, I will cover each

    chapter in two weeks, and then the due day would be the next Friday.

    Exams:

    There will be TWOmidterm exams, each of which consists of two parts: 50-minutes in-class

    part and take-home part. The in-class part is required for BOTHstudents in MATH4752 and

    6752, and the take-home part is required ONLYfor students in MATH 67521. Midterm 1: Feb 10 (in-class), Feb 13 (take-home); covering Chapter 8 and10.

    2. Midterm 2: Mar 16 (in-class), Mar19 (take-home); covering Chapter 11 and12.

    A comprehensive/cumulative final exam will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 10:4513:15PM at the same classroom for BOTHstudents in MATH4752 and6752. Students in MATH6752 are required to take an additional take-home part due on Friday, April 27, at 11 AM.

    One handwritten formula sheet (letter paper) is permitted on each exam (both midterm and final). NO

    proofs of theorems or real exercise problems are allowed to be included in the sheet.

    Because the test dates have been decided at the beginning of the semester, no make-up test is allowed

    based on excuses such as traveling, being late, etc.

    Grading Policy:

    Grading will be based on attendance, assignments, mid-term and final exams. Your grade will be based

    on the following percentages.

    5% Attendance

    25% Homework20% Mid-term exam 1

    20% Mid-term exam 2

    30% Final Exam

    Final grades will be determined as follows

    A+ 97----100 B+ 87----89 C+ 77-----79 D 60----69 F 0-----59A 93----96 B 83----86 C 70-----76

    A- 90----92 B- 80----82

    Student regulations:

    1. You are required to attend class regularly. Roll will be taken at the beginning of class by sign-up sheet.It is your responsibility to sign the sheet. If you do not attend class during the first two weeks you will

    be administratively dropped.

    2. The last day to withdraw from the class and receive W isFeb 24.

    Disruptive Behavior:

    Behavior that disrupts the classroom learning environment will not be tolerated. Such behavior includes

    talking during class, use of cellular phones or other electronic devices during class, and violent or abusive

    behavior or speech. Students exhibiting such behavior will be removed from the class, and/or be

    withdrawn from the course with a grade of WF.

    Academic honesty:

    You are permitted and, in fact, encouragedto talk to other students, or me about homework. I may give

    you clues or discuss similar problems without doing your homework for you. However, you may not

    present other peoples work as your own. If you work with other students solving problems, make surethat you write up your own solution independently. It is not acceptable for one student to write a

    solution for another student to copy.

    You must work independently during exams. You may not share calculators or pass notes during theexams.

    Students with Disabilities:
