Basic information• Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and
the most populous city in Australia and Oceania.• It is located in southeast of Australia, to the wide
shores of Jackson Bay. With a population of about 3.45 million.
• The official language is English.
Traditions & customs• It is the city with more quality of life worldwide. Its
inhabitants are friendly and good sense of humor, are very liberal and most are Christians.
• The most important traditions are: Christmas, Anzac Day, Easter, The day of Australia and New Year.
Gastronomy• Sydney is a cosmopolitan city that offers the best
cuisine of world. The most typical Australian cuisine is seafood and fish as: the Marrabundi, lobsters, oysters, etc. The National dessert is the Pavlovla (cake made with meringue and fresh fruit). The most innovating dish is Balmain Bugs (lobster salad).
Economic sector
• The most important economic sectors are private services and business. They also dispose of their festivals that are all a tourist claim.
• Sydney is 7th most expensive city in the world.
Monuments & beaches
• It has a lot of monuments. The most important monuments are: Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.
• The most popular beaches are Coogee and Bronte Calloy Palm Beach.
Flora & fauna• Sydney is characterized by the environment that
surrounds it. This city has a vegetation and wildlife that protects the people of Sydney. It possesses natural beauty as Sydney wildlife Word, the zoo (which has over 3,000 exotic species) and Sydney Aquarium with more than 1,200 species of marine animals.
Parties & festivals
• Throughout the year, in Sydney are many parties and festivals as: Sydney Festival, National Day of Australia, Harvest Festival, Royal Easter Show, Writers Festival, Film Festival and many more.......
• One of the most important events that took place in this city were the 2000 Olympic games.
