South West WA Medicare Local hosted a lively networking event for southwest coastal stakeholders on Thursday 5 September at the Goose restaurant. Our Chairperson Elizabeth Barnes and CEO Kate Clarke updated attendees on SWWAML’s current directions and initiatives and invited them to apply for membership. Mary Wood Area Manager Southwest Coastal gave an overview of 3 key programs, which demonstrate our commitment to supporting workforce development and increasing connectivity and collaboration between service providers.TRANSCRIPT

• Kicks off in October with 8 ‘World Cafes’ for all stakeholders in 4 locations:
• Busselton• Manjimup • Bunbury• Collie

P3 Clinicsa nurse led initiative in chronic condition prevention and management
• Training for 20 nurses and allied health professionals in the Graduate Certificate in Advising on Chronic Disease Self –management
(all places filled) • 12 months SWWAML team
support to establish and evaluate the outcomes for patients in enhanced self management
