Portrait of Silvia-Elena This project began as part of the 400 Women project, a collective exhibition of 200 artists’ responses to female genocide in Juárez, Mexico. Swoon collaborated with documentarian Tennessee Jane Watson on this same work. Along with Swoon’s portrait of Silvia-Elena, there are photos of the missing girls, as they are found plastered in Juarez, and an audiotrack of Watson's interviews with the mothers of the disappeared.

Swoon Biography Swoon was born in 1977 in New London, Connecticut, and grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. When she was 19 she moved to New York City and studied painting at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Her real name is Caledonia Dance Curry, and Swoon became her tag- name when she began making street art. She does mostly woodcut prints and sustainable building projects. Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea Swoon and her crew designed and built seven boats from discarded materials found in New York dumpsters. They sailed down the Hudson river for three weeks, stopping to give performances at various places. Gallery Shows Murmuration was a gallery installation of an imaginary cityscape made from trash, inhabited by figurative woodcut prints. Konbit Shelter Project The Konbit Shelter Project is made up of artists, engineers, architects, and builders who want to help in post-earthquake Haiti. They are creating dome-shaped homes our of adobe that are sustainable and inexpensive, made of 90% earth materials, and resistant to natural disasters. Street Art
