SeTTleMeNT WorkerS IN SchoolS (SWIS)Are you new to Canada and your child attends a North Shore elementary or secondary school? The SWIS program can help:
• parents understand Canadian culture and school systems
• increase parent involvement in the school and community
• access information, resources and North Shore programs and services
SWIS Workers meet with students and families one- to-one to provide support and to facilitate meetings between families, students and school staff. Work-shops are held to provide information and support for students and families in a group setting.
SWIS services are available in Farsi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Tagalog, French and English. Access to interpretation services for other languages is available as needed.
Services are government sponsored and free of charge.
