ANIMAL ACTIVISTLAURA GUTTRIDGE

A finalist in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic International Pageant in 1991, and crowned Miss Budweiser in 1998 Laura's days as a swimsuit model were long lasting, appearing on dozens of calendars, magazines, and posters.

More is a leading women magazine that is regarded as the voice of sophisticated, affluent and accomplished women of today. The magazine celebrates women over 40 and invites them to share their experiences and connect with other women. Besides personal experience and stories, the magazine also features advice on beauty, health, fashion, career and lots more for women of the new age. In 2005, Model Laura Guttridge was featured in More magazine’s swimsuit issue.

She has also appeared in television shows like “Renegade”, “Silk Stalkings”, “Inside Edition”, and “Current Affair”. For this issue, Laura Guttridge was selected from over 20,000 entrants by More.

CONTRIBUTION AS AN ANIMAL ACTIVIST  Laura Guttridge is also an animal activist, and presently she is a member of the board of directors for The Animal Rights Foundation of Florida. The foundation has been working for the rights of animals since 1989. In the early 1990's Guttridge also was a co/founder of a small grassroots organization called "Marion County Voices For Animals." The group was located in Ocala, Florida, and was successful in petitioning the Marion County Animal Shelter to stop using the cruel and outdated decompression chamber to kill unwanted animals, and switch to the more humane lethal injection.

Laura Guttridge has organized countless demonstrations to bring awareness to the suffering of animals. For her dedication to the protection of animals she was given the 2007 Humanitarian of the Year Award from The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County.
