Dear Recruiter:

I am Sheryl White and you have just found the right candidate to fill this vacancy. I am a self-starter with ambition and drive to meet the expectations of this company. My proven and consistent leadership capabilities have motivated me to be a dynamic team player. My background and experience consist of managing the daily operations of a non-profit organization to include mobilizing a team of program directors and administrative staff to accomplish the mission and vision set forth by the agency. I have been Director of Operations for Great Plains Improvement Foundation, Inc., a local community action agency located in Lawton, OK since 2008. However, I have been with the agency since July 2003. I possess a strong background in leadership and agency development that includes over 10 years working with various programs within the agency, developing staff at all levels to include community volunteers and assisting the low income residents of Comanche County.

Much of my work experience has been in accounting and finance, human resources, planning and development as it pertains to a non-profit agency, grant writing and collaborations with other external agencies to coordinate resources and services to benefit the clients that come to the agency seeking assistance. I have extensive knowledge of the daily operations of a non-profit organization to include board recruitment, composition and fiduciary duties, development of policies and procedures for the agency, human resource activities (onboarding, benefits, worker’s compensation claims, FMLA, interviewing, and evaluation of employees) development and training activities for staff, and spearheading the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program for over 10 years.

I am responsible for keeping the agency and the board of directors informed of local, state and regional activities on a continual basis via written or electronic formats that are directly related to carrying out the mission, goals and objectives of Community Action. I assist annually with writing various federal, state and local grants for the agency which total over $500,000.00 in additional funding to support services and programs. I attend state, regional and national conferences to obtain the latest information on issues affecting Community Action and bring those findings back to the agency to help myself as well as fellow co-workers to enhance job performance. My professional attributes include being dependable, detail-oriented, organized and focused with strong interpersonal skills. I am an excellent communicator both written and oral. I follow policies and procedures and demonstrate a professional work ethic which has sustained me throughout my career. I am a graduate of Morgan State University (B.A) and Cameron University (M.S. in Organizational Leadership) and a native Washingtonian and would be willing to relocate to the area if I’m considered for this job opportunity. I know I can be an asset to your company and would like the opportunity to interview for this position. I can be reached on my cell phone at 580-574-0499.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Sheryl White
