What is this “Systemic” Therapy about?

Systemic Counselling and Psychotherapy is a

world-wide, developed and practised,

academically grounded approach within the

fields of therapy and social care.

Because of its coherent focus on the

relations in our lives it is often referred to

as “Family Therapy” but can be likewise

useful for individuals and groups other than

families, e.g. workplace teams.

The UK-based Association for Family

Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT)

describes that…

“Family Therapy helps people in close

relationship help each other. It enables

family members, couples and others who

care about each other to express and

explore difficult thoughts and emotions

safely, to understand each other’s

experiences and views, appreciate each

other’s needs, build on strengths and make

useful changes in their relationships and

their lives. Individuals can find Family

Therapy helpful, as an opportunity to reflect

on important relationships and find ways

forward.”*

Which people/problems do you “treat”?

We don’t “treat” people as we don’t have a

magic pill, spell or crystal ball. Instead we

talk and explore with you about how you want

your life and relationships to be. You come

as a client, not as a patient.

We could give you a long list of problems and

symptoms that can be “treated” with the

approach of Systemic Counselling and

Psychotherapy. However, no list of problems

could ever claim to contain your problem in

the way that you experience it. You - and

your problem and solutions - are too unique

to go on a list.

Other things we wish to highlight:

You decide where-to our talk goes and we

ask you and pay attention to how talk

needs to be in order to be useful to you.

You only share what you want to share

and you can trust confidentiality and

anonymity – we do not share your details

with anyone unless requested by you.

You decide how often and long you wish

to engage with the service at

So „Systemic” Therapy is aimed at whom?

People who wish to build on their own and

their networks’ energy, creativity and

resources.

People who are happy that “our talking

together” is solely oriented towards

their concerns and goals.

People who like to be and stay in charge

of their lives rather than rely on others

who cannot know what’s best for them.

People who seek clarity in regards to the

decisions they face and the ways they

decide.

People who want to re-gain increased

consciousness, vitality and confidence.

People who wish to gain greater certainty

and sphere of influence in their various

roles of life, e.g. as Parents, Partners,

Co-Workers.

People like you and us and our neighbours.

I am/We are interested, now what?

Whether you wish to book an appointment,

have questions about this flyer or are

uncertain if your problem is “eligible” for

Systemic Therapy – Stephen Doyle (07518

753538) and Stefan Eckardt (07432

Venue(s)

We operate from various venues

depending on availability as well as the

needs in regards to room size and

accessibility.

sWANSEAsft

What you get…

...is a space to reflect on any problem or

development in your life which is

unsolved, challenging and unsatisfying

and where you want things to change.

We offer what is called a “talking

therapy” but also may utilise creative

elements to depict the issues you bring

and to model solutions together.

At sWANSEAsft fAMILYsft tHERAPYsft

we work with one or two therapists in the

room. The later is subject to availability

and based on our belief that – at times -

it can be useful to consult with two sets

of eyes, ears and experience and to

offer various perspectives to explore.

We look forward to seeing you and all

who engage in your problem and its

solutions. (Flyer version 03/2015)
