Chicago rapper, Landon Battles is soon to take the Midwest music scene by storm. LandonBattles coins himself as being the “Alternative Rapper.” His versatility speaks volumes with songs like “Bottle of Spirits,” “Kids On Drugs,” and “Headache.” This wordsmith is already breaking through the typical identity of a rapper crossing over to genres as classic hip hop, reggae, pop, and R&B. LandonBattles has also released two albums: Monumen-tal Potential in 2011 and Banger in 2013. This sensation-al, fresh, new artist has been seen all over Illinois, Texas and Georgia. Landon Battles not only takes his music seriously, but his community as well by mentoring your black males dealing with gang violence everyday.

Inspiring and Uniting Chicago Communities

Founded in 2009, The Lupe Fiasco Foundation is a uniquely interdisciplinary, grassroots-driven organization that works to inspire and unite Chicago communities and their youth by providing transformative resources and platforms that are in short supply or unavailable. Specifically, the Foundation pursues three key initiatives — including food justice, the creation and implementation of hip-hop curriculum, and youth empowerment funding — to demonstrate that equipping youth with the tools to discuss issues such as food access, health, violence and values can effect positive change for them and their communities.

Eighteen year old artist Roosevelt the Titan from the West Side of Chicago is someone to watch. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Titan’s music, his latest single “Oh Gah” provides listeners with an aggressive and vividly personal introduction, dropping bars throughout his verses alluding to his demons until he finally proclaims “Oh Gah (God), You can’t save me.” Sinister in nature, the top-tier production by local producer Glassic led Roosevelt down a path he is very comfortable walking. He opens up to listeners about self-doubt, trust issues, lost friends and more in an outburst against his vulnerabilities.
