For all the new families at Swan Reach this year, Scholastic (our book club organisation) provides the school with a big selection of amazing books at fantastic prizes. Our book fair runs before school and after school on designated days for a week with the last day being a dress up day where students and staff come to school dressed as their favourite book character and participate in a parade around the basketball court, with prizes awarded and a special surprise visitor. Forsafetyandsupervisionreasons,thereareonlytwospotswhereparentscanpickuptheirkids—Thegateatthebasketballcourtandthebottomgate,nearthereboundwall.

Bothareashavebeenselectedasallthekidscanwaitsafelyinsidetheschoolgroundsorhavethesupervisionoftheteacheronduty.

Parkingisbecomingmoreofanissue,attheschool,asweincreaseinsize.WehavebeenworkingcloselywiththeEastGippslandShire,constructingfootpathsandconnectingtheschoolwiththerestofthetown,aswellaslookingatthebestoptiontoimprovethe$lowoftraf$icpasttheschool,suchas‘Kissanddrop’zonesandextradesignatedparkingareas.

Weallcoulddoourbitwithafewsimplesteps:

• Ifyouhavetoparkontheoppositesideoftheroad,pleasewalkacrosstopickupyourchild.Childrendonothaveadevelopsenseofperceptionandmaynotseevehiclescoming.Also,kidsarehardtoseewhentheroadisbusy.

• Practice‘kiss&drop’infrontoftheschool.Ifwecankeepthefrontoftheschoolclear,traf$icwill$lowsmoothly.

SchoolFees.

Schoolfeesareanimportantaspectsofallgovernmentschools,astheysupplementmanyoftheprogramswetakeforgranted.Forexample,theschoolspentover$25,000oncomputers,in2016,justtoupdatemachines.EvenifeveryfamilypaystheTechnologypartofthefees,thetotalwillonlybejustover$5,000.Atbest,thefeespayfortheprogramsweuseandnottheactualmachines.

Also,thecostsofexcursionsandtransportkeepgoingup—Whereoneshortbustripcosts$600,weneedtwobusestomovethewholeschool.

Wehaveanumberofpaymentoptionsavailable,ifyouwouldliketoseeusand$indout.

Swan Reach it makes a very visual impact for road users.

Please be aware that the pedestrian refuge is a safe crossing area where pedestrians must give way to

oncoming traffic.
