Sustainable Neighbourhood Retrofit
Action Plan (SNAP) Projects
November, 2013
What is a SNAP?
• An action plan for environmental improvement and urban renewal in an existing urban neighbourhood
• Directs neighbourhood projects, identifies
and overcomes barriers to action
Why?
• Implement big picture strategies at a local scale
• Address urban retrofit challenges:
• Lack of trigger for change
• Many stakeholders
• Competing demands
• Technical constraints
• Attitudes, standards
• Cost
• Accelerate uptake and seek efficiencies
How are the SNAPs being created?
