Oneofourprimaryprinciplesistoprovideour

energysolutions.Wecomplywithallregulations
applicabletoourbusiness,whileoperatingabove
thestandard.Thisincludeshavingachievedcarbon
neutralityforouroperationsandtheenergywe
supply,whichwe’vedonebyofferingourcustomers
onlyenvironmentallyconsciousproducts.Since
2017,we’vebeenofferingelectricitythat’s100%
matchedwithGreen-ecertifiedRECsandnaturalgas
that’s100%matchedwithGreen-eClimatecertified
carbonoffsets.WehavepreviouslyofferedRECand
carbonoffsetbundledproducts,butwetookthis
onestepfurtherin2017bycertifyingbothproducts.
Infact,KiwiEnergyandSpringPower&Gaswerethe
firstcompaniestoofferGreen-eClimate’scertified
gasproducttoresidentialcustomersinNewYork,
NewJerseyandMaryland.
Inadditiontoourenergyconsciousproducts,we
havebuiltonourEcogoldloyaltyprogramtooffer
ourcustomersenergyefficientproductsandservices
suchaslightbulbsanddiscountedhomefilter
subscriptions.Theprogramalsooffersadditional
EcogoldRewardswhenchoosingsolar.Weseekto
acknowledgeandencourageourcustomerstomake
therightenvironmentalchoicesandrewardthemfor
thesedecisions.

Kiwi Energy NY LLC (“Kiwi Energy”)ThecompanywasoriginallyformedinDecember2008

NewYorkmarket.KiwiEnergywillbelaunchinginto
Ohioearlyin2018.KiwiEnergymarketspredominantly
toresidential,withsomesmallcommercialcustomers,
andsincedoingbusinessinNY,wehavecontracted
withmorethan100,000customers.Thecurrentutility

Our Supply Chain
RRHpurchasesitselectricityfromtheNewYork
PowerPool(NYPP)andthePennsylvania-NewJersey-
Maryland(PJM)Interconnection.BoththeNYPP
andPJMsourcesupplyfromgenerationwithintheir
regionandfromneighboringregions.Themixoffuels
usedtogeneratetheelectricityvarieshourlyand
includesnaturalgas,nuclear,hydro,oil,coal,windand
otherrenewableresources.SpringPower&Gasand
KiwiEnergyoperateinstatesthathaveRenewable
PortfolioStandards(RPS).Thesestandardsset
differentrequirementsfordifferenttypesof
renewableenergyresourcesthatSpringPower&Gas
andKiwiEnergymustmeet.BothKiwiEnergyand
SpringPower&Gasgoaboveandbeyondthesestate
requirements.InadditiontotheRPS,KiwiEnergyand
SpringPower&Gasensurethat100%ofcustomers'
usageismatchedwithRenewableEnergyCertificates
(RECs).Additionally,KiwiEnergyandSpringPower&
GasstartedofferingGreen-eEnergycertifiedWind
RECproductsatthebeginningof2017.
RRHpurchasesnaturalgasfromvariousnaturalgas
productionandstoragefacilities.Usingthedata
fromtheUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtection
Agency(USEPA),RRHdeterminesthecarbon
emissionsassociatedwithitsnaturalgassalesand
purchasescarbonoffsetstooffsettheemissions
fromprojectsthatencourageforestryandavoid
carbondioxide(CO2)emissions.

sponsorsofBrooklynGreenwayInitiative’sEpicRideforfive
consecutiveyears.TheEpicRideisa25to40milebikerideand
annualfundraiserfortheorganization.
BrooklynGreenwayInitiative(BGI)isanon-profitorganization
thatworkstodevelop,establishandmaintaintheBrooklyn
WaterfrontGreenway,a14-milepathforpedestrians
andcyclistsfromGreenpointtoBayRidge.BGIalsoseeks
opportunitiestocreateadditionalopenspacesalongthe
greenwayrouteinordertoprovidetheenvelopmentofnature
andrelieffromthebuiltenvironment.Thedevelopmentof
thesegreenspacesisavaluableandvitalcomponentincity
planningandgrowth.
Foroveradecade,BGIhasactedasthecatalystforthe
development,establishment,andlong-termstewardshipofthe
BrooklynWaterfrontGreenway.
In2016,the“Epic”cyclistsrodethroughBGI’snewest1.7-
acresite,NavalCemeteryLandscape,whichwasdevelopedin
partnershipwiththeBrooklynNavyYardDevelopmentCorp.
Thisgreenlandscapeincorporatesmorethan50different
speciesofnativeplantsbeneficialtopollinatorslikebees,moths
andbutterflies.BGI’sopenspacedevelopmentsareintendedto
drawpeople,birds,andpollinatorstoofferaretreatfromthe
city,andaddtothenaturalmigrationpathforurbanwildlife.
TodaytheGreenwayconsistsof23NYCDOTcapitalprojects,
andtheorganizationisactivelyseekingfundingtomovemore
segmentstowardimplementation.

OnAugust27,2016,RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFund
sponsoredthefirsteverBikeRaveorganizedbytheBrooklyn
GreenwayInitiative(BGI),anon-profitorganizationthatworks
todevelop,establish,andmaintaintheBrooklynWaterfront
Greenway;a14-milepathforpedestriansandcycliststhatruns
fromGreenpointtoBayRidge.
Hundredsofcyclistsbedazzledtheirbikes,putontheircraziest
outfits,andblastedpartytunesastheyrodethroughtheseven-
mileportionofthegreenwaythatwasilluminatedwithlights.
StartinginGreenpoint,touringthroughWilliamsburg,theBrooklyn
NavyYard,DumboandBrooklynBridgePark,theridefinished
withapartyattheiconicarchwayundertheManhattanBridgein
Dumbo.Ridemarshalsaccompaniedthecycliststoensurecycle
safetythroughtotheend,wheretheyjoinedtheirfriendsand
familyforentertainment,music,andrefreshments.
RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundhavebeendedicated
sponsorsandparticipantsofpreviousBGIevents.However,the
BikeRavewasthefirsteventthattookitsinspirationfrombike
ravesinothercountries,suchasCanadaandNewZealand,where
theyaremorecommonlyusedtoraisefundsforcharity.Theride
wasaimedtoraiseawarenessforBGIandencouragealternative
formsoftransportationinthecity.
OrganizationslikeBGIarenotonlyencouraginganeco-friendly
lifestylebuttheyareworkingtowardsthedevelopmentofgreen
spaces,whicharevaluableandvitalcomponentsinthegrowth
ofNewYork.TheBikeRaveisaculturalphenomenonthatis
spreadingaroundtheworld,alteringhowpeoplethinkaboutthe
citiesinwhichtheylive.

TheBrooklynGreenwayHalfMarathon&5Kguidedrunners
throughuniqueandmemorableurbanviewswhichincluded
vistasofthemidtownandlowerManhattanskylines;Brooklyn,
Manhattan,andWilliamsburgBridges;BrooklynBridgePark;
andtheBrooklynNavyYard.
ParticipantsofTheBrooklynGreenwayHalfMarathon&
5KsupportedBrooklynGreenwayInitiative,anon-profit

Establishedin1956,NationalBikeMonthcelebratesthemany
benefitsofcyclingandencourageseveryonetogetinvolved.In
honorofNationalBikeMonth,TransportationAlternativeshosted
awidearrayofevents,meanttoengagenewandseasonedcyclists
alike.In2017,RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundsponsored
TransportationAlternative’sBikemonthinordertopromotethe
importanceofbicyclinginthecity.
Eachyear,TransportationAlternativescelebratesBikeMonth
bycuratingaseriesofactivitiesthathighlightthebenefitsand
importanceofbicycling.In2017,thisincludedaBikeCommuter
Challengewhichencouragedcolleaguestobandtogetherina
healthycompetitionoftrackingtheirmonthlymiles.TheChallenge
wastheperfectwaytointroducepeopletothebenefitsof
commutingbybike,andalsotohelpemployersbuildapositive,
healthyworkplaceculturethatbeginswithemployeeshavingfun
gettingtowork.Asworkerscompetedforthetitleof‘Bikingest
Office,’theyalsogainedanewperspectiveofNewYorkCity
streetsandwhatneedstohappentomakethemsaferforcycling.
TransportationAlternativesBikeMontheventsalsoincludedaBiketoWorkDayandtheBikeHome
fromWorkParty,withthelattercelebratingeverythingthereistoloveaboutcycling.Vendorsjoinedfrom
alloverthecountryandofferedawidearrayofproductsandactivitiesthatengagedandinteractedwith
cyclists,youngandold.
With140,000activesupportersandcommitteesofactivistsworkinglocallyineveryborough,Transportation
AlternativesworkstoreclaimNewYorkCitystreetsforbiking,walkingandpublictransit.Throughconsistent
andfocusedadvocacy,TransAlthasadvanced“completestreet”redesignswithprotectedbikelanes,dedicated
buslanesandpublicplazas,andhasalsoworkedformoreequitableVisionZerotrafficenforcementacrossthe

In2017,RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundsponsored
TransportationAlternative’sNYCCenturyBikeTourforthe
thirdyearrunning.TransportationAlternativeshasledthe
transformationofNewYorkCity’stransportationnetwork
bycontinuingtodevelopsustainable,efficientwaysof
maneuveringaroundthecitysince1973.Theirworkincludes
theproductionoflarge-scalebikeeventsforbothnoviceand
experiencedcyclists,includingoneofthemostuniquebike
toursofferedintheUS,theNYCCenturyBikeTour.
TheNYCCenturyBikeTouristhenation’sonlyall-urban100-
milebiketouroption.Alldistanceroutesofthetourwere
designedtoexhibittheinterconnectivityofthedifferent
neighborhoodsinNewYorkCityandrevealhowsimpleandsafe
itcanbetocommutebybike.
SincetheinauguralNYCCenturyBikeTourin1990,thecity’s
greenwaysystemhasexpandedmorethantenfold.Thisyear,
theCenturyRidewillshowcaseacarefullycuratedsectionofthe
city’snow1,000+milesofbikelanenetworksandgreenways.
ThefirstNYCCenturyBikeTourattractedonly200dedicatedNewYorkCitybicyclists,manyofwhomwere
dailybicyclecommutersalreadyadvocatingforbetterbicyclingconditionsinthecity.Today,therideattracts
morethan6,000people.Today’sridersincludeNewYorkers,aswellasvisitorscomingfromacrossthestates
andevenfromaroundtheworld.Manybicyclistsreturnyearafteryear,becausetheyknowthattheNYC
CenturyBikeTourisoneofthebestwaystoexperiencethediversityandscopeofNewYorkCity.
Allridershadtheoptiontochoosewhichdistancetheywishedtoparticipatein.Thenewestroute–the
“familyfriendly”15begunatProspectParkandcrossedintoManhattanviatheManhattanBridge.Theother
optionsincludedthe35,55,75,or100-milebikeride,allwhichbegunateitherProspectParkorCentralPark.
SupportingtheNYCCenturyBikeTourisagreatwayforNewYorkersandtouristsaliketodemonstratetheir
supportofsaferstreetswhilebeingassociatedwithoneofthemostexcitingbikeadventuresinthecity.

areencouragedtoridetheirbiketotheeventtodemonstratethe
easeofdoingdailyactivitiesonabike,thevalueofsupporting
localgrowersand,ofcourse,reducingtheircarbonfootprint.At
themarket,Bikemoreprovidedfreebikevalettomembersand
attendees,sotheycouldhavepeaceofmindwhiletheyshopped.
Bikemorealsohadgiveawaysandaraffleforanyonewhorodein,
and,aspartoftheevent,RRHofferedallBikemoremembersand
attendeesfourfreeLEDlightbulbsforsigningupfortheirbrand’s
electricityorgasservices.

inBaltimore.Representingthethousandsofpeoplewhoride
bicycleseveryday,fortransportationandrecreation,throughout

How We Manage Our Waste
Becauseourbusinessisofficebased,thewaste
thatwegenerateincludestypicalmunicipalwaste,
includingitemslikepaper,foodwaste,plasticand
glassbeveragecontainers,andotherwastetypicalof
officeoperations.Weoccupyofficespaceinseveral
buildingsintheNewYorkMetroarea,andutilizea
storagefacility.Therespectivelandlordssegregate
wasteforrecycleordisposal,wedosoaswell.
Asaresultoftheexpansionofourbusinessinto
newmarketsandchangestoourofficeoperations,
weproducedaconsiderableamountofstationery
andpromotionalliteraturethatwemaynotbeable
toutilize.Approximately68,500piecesofartwork
andenvelopestotaling1175poundsrequired
propermanagement.Toensurethatthismaterial
wasnotjustdisposedinalandfill,weretainedan
independentrecyclingcompanytoshredandrecycle
thiswastein2015,andhavecontinuedthisprocess
throughout2016and2017.Byrecyclngthiswaste
paper,in2016theequivalentof990poundsofCO2e
emissionswereavoidedandin20171980pounds
of CO2ewereavoided.RRHreducedtheamountof
wastebyafactorof4in2016comparedto2015,

In2016,RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundsponsored
Bikemore’sannualCranksgivingevent.Startedin1999inNew
YorkCity,Cranksgivinghasnowgrownintoaglobaleventthat
combinesbikeridingandgivingback.Thisscavengerhunt/food
drivesendsteamsofridersacrossthecitytocollectfooditems,
whichbenefitMoveableFeast,anorganizationthatcaresfor
men,women,andchildrenlivingwithHIV/AIDS,cancer,andother
life-threateningillnesses.
Therideisfreebutteamsareaskedtocarryasmallamount
ofcashinordertopurchasefooditemsfordonation.Thefirst
yearBikemorehostedCranksgivingwasin2015andin2016,
theydoubledthenumberofriders,whichincreasedtheimpact
andprovidedtwiceasmuchfoodforthepeopleinneed.The
organizationhopestogainmoresupportandencouragespeople
togetinvolvedinthisfunandmeaningfulevent.
Since2012,Bikemorehasworkedtowardsbeingaforceinbiking
forBaltimore.AsaBaltimore-basedadvocacyorganization,
Bikemore’sgoalistoincreaseandimprovebicycleinfrastructure,
policiesandawarenesstocreateasaferandmorelivablecycling
city.Theirvisionisforallpeopleacrossdiversecultures,races,
incomelevels,andbackgroundstofeeltheycansafelyand
confidentlycyclethrougheverypartofBaltimore.
RRHbelievesinBikemore’smissionandisproudtobeable
tosupportandpartnerwithanorganizationthathashada
consistentandprofoundimpactontheBaltimorecommunity.

GrowNYCwasinspiredbythefirstEarthDayandwasoriginally
foundedin1970astheCouncilontheEnvironmentof
NewYorkCity(CENYC).CENYCwasinitiallyapolicy-based
organization,writingcomprehensivereportsaboutqualityof
lifeissueslikeairquality,traffic,andnoise.Today,GrowNYCis
thelargestandmostestablishedenvironmentalorganizationin
thecitywithover3millionNewYorkerseachyearparticipating
intheirprograms.Theyhaveplayedapivotalroleinhelping
NewYorkCitytransformoverthepastfivedecades.GrowNYC’s
missionistoimproveNewYorkCity'squalityoflifethrough
environmentalprogramsthattransformcommunitiesblock
byblockandempowerallNewYorkerstosecureacleanand
healthyenvironmentforfuturegenerations.
Everyyearsince1986,GrowNYC’sAnnualSpringPlantSale
hasprovidedcommunitygardensandotherorganizationsthe
opportunitytopurchaseavarietyofvegetables,herbs,and
floweringplantsgrownbyGreenmarketfarmersatwholesale
prices.In2017,theplantsalewasheldatBrooklyn’sHattie
CarthanCommunityGardenandtheRRHteamwasonhand
andeagertodiginandhelp.Thevolunteersspenttheday
participatinginanassortmentofgardeningactivitiesincluding,
fulfillingincomingordersandassistinglocalbuyerswith
loadingandunloadingplants.
RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundhavebeenproud
supportersoftheAnnualPlantSaleforseveralyears,
andbelieveinGrowNYC’smissiontoimproveNewYork
City’squalityoflifethroughenvironmentalprogramsand
sustainability.Communitygardeningandlocalfarmingareboth
importantstepsinachievingthisandinbringingawarenessto
createamoresustainablecity.

GrowNYC’sgardenprogrambeganin1975,spearheadedby
legendarygardenerLizChristy,turningvacantlotsintogreen
oases.Thegoaloftheprogramistobuildandsustaincommunity
gardens,urbanfarms,schoolgardens,andrainwaterharvesting
systemsacrossNewYorkCity.Todate,GrowNYChasbuilt100
gardens,andhassupportedhundredsmorethroughrenovations,
greeninfrastructureprojects,technicalassistance,volunteerdays,
anannualplantsale,andmuchmore.
OnJune2,2017,theRRHstaffrolleduptheirsleevesand
spentthedaywithGrowNYCattheirnewurbanfarmingproject
DemonstrationGarden,locatedinWilliamsburgBrooklyn’s
McCarrenPark.TheRRHteamhelpedonseveralprojects
throughouttheday,includingbuildingplantboxesandassisting
withareasofthegardenthatneededcompletion.Oncecomplete,
thegardenwillserveasanexampleforlocalsandvisitorswho
wanttolearnhowtogarden,growtheirownfoodandjusthave
abetterunderstandingofandrelationshipwiththeland.The
gardenwillalsoprovideanareawhereschoolgroupsandother
communitymemberscanplantandmaintainflowersandfoodsof
theirchoosing.
GrowNYChelps3millionNewYorkersannuallybyproviding
essentialservices—accesstolocallygrownfood,community
andschoolgardens,recyclingandwastereductiontools,and
more—thatenablehealthyandsustainableliving.Asanon-

Since2009,EarthSparkhasbeendedicatedtoeradicating
energypovertyinHaiti.In2012,EarthSparkturnedonafirst
ofitskind,privatelyoperatedmicrogridinLesAnglais,a
smalltownthathadneverbeforehadgridelectricity.In2015,
theEarthSparkteamexpandedthegridto430connections,
directlyservingover2000peoplewith24-hourelectricity
poweredprimarilybysolarenergyandbatterystorage.This
communityscalegridislargeenoughtopowersmallindustry
whileprogressiveenoughtoofferaccessibleservicetoevery
singleresidentlivingwithintheinfrastructure’sfootprint.
RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalfunddonatedfunds
tothenon-profitorganizationEarthSparkInternationalfor
reliefeffortsintheaftermathofthetragiceventscausedby
HurricaneMatthew.HurricaneMatthewmadelandfallin2016
viathesmalltownofLesAnglais,whereEarthSpark’steam,
grid,andcustomerswerelocated.Itleftbehindwidespread
destructionandseverelydamagedmostofthehomesand
businessesinthecity.
Mostofthehomesandbusinessesconnectedtothegridweredestroyedduringthehurricane.EarthSpark
putforthsignificanteffortstoretooltheenergyassetstopowerurgentdisasterreliefefforts.Beyondtherelief
work,EarthSparkworkedintandemwithlocalauthoritiestore-establishthepolesandwiresdistributionsystem
ofelectricityforthetownandtodevelopresilientenergysystemsfortownsacrossthehardest-hitregion.
RRHhashadtheopportunitytopartnerwithEarthsparkonseveralotherprojects.Priortothehurricane,
RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundsupportedEarthSparkininstallingatown-sizedsolarpowered
smartgrid,whichdeliverselectricityto450homesandbusinessesinthedowntownLesAnglaisareain
Haiti.Theresidentsofthesehomesandbusinessesnowreceiveclean,reliableenergyfromastate-of-the-
art,hybridgenerationsystem.
HurricaneMatthewwasatragedyandRRHandtheEnvironmentalfundareproudtosupportan
organizationlikeEarthSpark,whoworkedhardtoproviderelief,aid,andlong-termsolutionstothe

RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundhavebeenpartnering
withtheEarthwatchInstitute,aglobalenvironmentalnon-profit
organization that connects citizens with scientists to improve the
healthandsustainabilityoftheplanet,since2015.Duringthe
summerof2017,RRHs’EcogoldEnvironmentalFundsponsored
SophiaLudtketojoin12otherstudentsintheEarthwatch
Expedition:SeatoTreesatAcadiaNationalPark,andprovidedher
theopportunitytoexaminehowclimatechangeisimpactingthe
biodiversityinthisregionofthestate.
Since1971,EarthwatchInstitutehasofferedindividualsfromall
walksoflifetheopportunitytoassistscientistsonfieldresearch
projectsaroundtheworld.Theexpeditions,whichoftenhavea
powerfulandtransformativeimpact,areanopportunityforeach
participanttodevelopadeeperunderstandingoftheirrolein
buildingasustainablefuture.Earthwatchmakestheseexpeditions
possiblebyutilizingauniquecitizensciencemodeltoraisefunds,
recruitstudents,teachers,andcorporatefellowstoparticipatein
criticalfieldresearchthataimstounderstandnature’sresponseto
theacceleratingglobalchange.
Thefocusofthisstudywastoanalyzetheeffectsofrisingtemperaturesonbirdmigrationandfruitavailability.
Scientistsleadingtheresearchhypothesizethatbirdsseekingcooltemperaturesaremigratingfurthernorth
duringthewinter,thuspassingoverAcadiaduringtheirreturnflightsouthlaterintheseason.Meanwhile,
warmertemperaturesarecausingfruittobloomearlierintheseason.Ifbothspeculationsarecorrect,birds
couldbedeprivedofthefueltheyneedfortheirlongmigrationwhilefailingtospreadtheseedsofthefruits
theyregularlyconsume.
Theexperienceshowedtheseyoungwomenmanywaysinwhichpeoplearealreadyfightingforahealthier
earthandhowevensmallcontributionscanhaveapositiveimpactonthestateofourplanet.Theprogramalso
featuredfemalerolemodelsinSTEMasanattempttoinspireandmotivateyoungwomentoconsiderfuture
careersinthesciences.

Overthelastfewyears,communitygardeninghasbeenonthe
riseasurbandwellersincreasinglyrealizethebenefitsoflocal
produceandtheimportanceofbringingcommunitiestogether.
InNewYorkCity,themovementhasseentremendousgrowth
asmanyresidentsrealizehowpreciousgreenspacecanbein
anurbanjungle.Oftenwhenitcomestocommunitygardening,
ourfocuscanbeonthephysicalinfrastructure.However;what
isequallyimportant,ifnotmore,isthehumaninfrastructure.
Communitygardensareaplaceoflearningandcultivating
partnershipsamongstpeoplewhocareabouttheearthand
believeinworkingtogethertotransformneighborhoods.
GreenGuerillasisanon-profitenvironmentalgroupthathas
beendedicatedtostrengtheningandpreservingurbangardens
inNewYorkCityforover40years.TheGreenGuerillasbegan
duringthe1970’scommunitygardenmovementandtoday,
morethan600communitygardensserveasatestamentto
theskill,creativity,anddeterminationofNewYorkCity’s
communitygardeners.
RRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundsupportedtheGreen
GuerillasHarvestforNeighborhoodsCampaignin2016.The
programisdedicatedtoassistingcommunitygardenersinfood
desertneighborhoodssuchasBrooklyn,Harlem,andtheSouth
Bronxproduceanincreaseinfoodproduction.Tohelpthese
neighborhoodsattainfoodsecurity;theprogramengages
gardenersinawiderangeofactivitiestohelpthemgrowfood,
recruitnewurbanfarmers,revitalizeunder-utilizedgarden
space,managecommunityfarmersmarkets,andextendthe
growingseason.

managedspaces,and,itisthiscollaborativemodelthathas
transformedcommunitygardensintopermanentfixturesin
NewYorkCity’slandscape.

LaCasitaVerdesinceitsinceptionin2013.Aspartofthepartnership,
thestaffatRRHandtheEcogoldEnvironmentalFundrolleduptheir
sleevesinsupportoftheorganization’scompostingproject.
LaCasitaVerdeisauniquecommunitygardenthatfocuseson
compostingtoreducefoodwaste,supportingthesoilfoodweb,
andofferingproducetothelocalparticipatingcommunity.The
compostingprojectconsistsofseveralsolar-powered,aeratedstatic
pilesthatbiodegradeorganicmaterialswithoutrequiringphysical
manipulationduringprimarycompostingtocreatesemi-automated
composting.Additionalbenefitsincludesavingtimeandreducing
emissionsofvolatileorganiccompounds(VOCs)toresultinahigher
qualitycompostproduct.
Establishedin2013,LaCasitaVerdewasstartedbyagroupof
volunteersandcommunityactivistswhowantedtoconverta40-year-
oldabandonedlotinWilliamsburgBrooklynintoavibrantgreen
cornerforpeopleofitscommunityandbeyond.Thegardenoffersvisitorsandmembersanarrayofprograms
withtheopportunitytoparticipateinanyprogram,aswellaslearnaboutthesoilfoodwebsystem–acomplex
livingsysteminsoilthatinteractswiththeenvironment,plants,andourbodies.Visitorsalsolearnhowtomake
richsoil,growhealthyfood,andunderstandthevaluesofpermaculture–allthroughtheunionofcommunity,
artandscience.

(UNDP)anstheUniteNationsEnvironmental
Programme(UNEP).
Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)TheVerifiedCarbonStandard(nowaprogramofVerra)develops
andmanagesstandardsandframeworksthat
areusedtovetenvironmentalandsustainable
developmentefforts.Itestablishesrulesand
requirementsthatmustbemetforanyproject,and
ensuresthatprojects,programsandactivitiesmeet
thestandards,includingindependentverification.
GHGreductionprojectsareissuedcarboncredits
knownasVerifiedCarbonUnits(VCUs),whereeach
VCUrepresentsareductionorremovalofonemetric
