Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept whereby organizations consider the

long-term interests of the communities in which they operate and take responsibility

for the impact of their actions on employees, customers/members, the community and

the environment.

CSR activities are often referred to as being in three different but connected realms:

PeoplePlanetProfit

This is known as the “triple bottom line”

•Ethics: It is the right thing to do •Brand Enhancement: Better brand reputation•Public Expectations: The public has higher expectations of the responsibilities of business to create social benefits•The War for Talent: more attractive to existing and new employees•Risk Reduction: Risk management through transparency of activities•Value: The creation of value and competitive advantage•Sustainability: Environmental measures can often increase business sustainability and cut costs

Why CSR is Good for Business

MPI CSR Task Force Vision

Unite the MPI community in a shared vision and

commitment to a sustainable, just and profitable future.

What is MPI doing?

We are actively seeking to achieve five things:

• Inspire people to act

• Inform our communities how to accomplish their goals

• Activate our internal operations and our communities

• Measure our progress and seek for continual improvement

• Celebrate and report our successes

What is MPI doing?

Specific things we have done/are doing/will be doing:

• Signed the UN Global Compact

• Created a full-time Director of CSR to activate our internal and external communities

• Offered CSR tracks at PEC and will continue to offer them at future conferences

• Creation of a webcast series to inspire people around CSR

• Creation of a webinar series to inform people how to activate their goals

• Measured our environmental impact at our events & reported it to the community
