Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept whereby organizations consider the
long-term interests of the communities in which they operate and take responsibility
for the impact of their actions on employees, customers/members, the community and
the environment.
CSR activities are often referred to as being in three different but connected realms:
PeoplePlanetProfit
This is known as the “triple bottom line”
•Ethics: It is the right thing to do •Brand Enhancement: Better brand reputation•Public Expectations: The public has higher expectations of the responsibilities of business to create social benefits•The War for Talent: more attractive to existing and new employees•Risk Reduction: Risk management through transparency of activities•Value: The creation of value and competitive advantage•Sustainability: Environmental measures can often increase business sustainability and cut costs
