The Educational Service Unit #1 supports migrant families in the area through the assistance of the Title I-Part C Migrant Education Program grant. Because of this opportunity, migrant children benefit from a variety of programs that include: summer programs, support and instructional services. These supplemental services may include (but are not limited to): family literacy, guidance, educational materials, tutoring, health services, interpretation and translation, transportation, nutrition, life skills, and clothing. Please contact us when working with a family who could be eligible for our services.

Vanessa organizes services among our local districts to better serve our MEP families. Among her duties are coordinating Parent Advisory Council (PAC) events, MEP summer programming, literacy nights, tutoring, and planning instructional services.

Susana helps our team by identifying and recruiting eligible migrant children. Once a new student arrives to a district, Susana is the first one to visit to the family’s home to fill out a Certificate of Eligibility. This COE is then submitted to the Nebraska Department of Education for verification. If approved, the family would then become eligible for MEP services. Susana’s recruiting counties include: Burt, Cedar, Cuming, Dakota, Dixon, Knox, Thurston, and Wayne. *Isaura Barreto recruits in the city of Norfolk.

Diana supports our team by assisting with our program data. Many of her responsibilities include: entering and/or verifying migrant student enrollment and eligibility, tracking supplemental services and students’ needs information into our MEP student data system.

Sandra provides services in the South Sioux City, Hartington, Jackson, Dakota City, Wakefield, and Emerson area. Areas are being added as children get recruited.

Fabiola provides services in Beemer, Carroll, Norfolk, Randolph, Wayne, West Point, Wisner, Oakland, and Bloomfield. Areas are being added as children get recruited.
Once a child is verified eligible for MEP through NDE, Sandra & Fabiola meet with the families on a regular basis and assist the MEP family with instructional and support services unique to our program.
