Additional remarks of respondents (1)

Videos are in my opinion a great tool for all types of public. A video that presents facts on a specific water management problem and the opportunities to approach it is a good tool to get political will, encourage demand management and attracts support to action.

I do not have any additional comments except work on the practicalities Narrator for the video is good to help the audience understand better. I

have no comments , kindly inform me for any news concerning this subject

My country IRAQ is one of the regions of the world that is facing many challenges when it comes to managing its water resources. One of the challenges and obvious causes is that my country lies in open warfare over decades, and has recently emerged from three large scale conflicts in its recent history, only to plunge into renewed violence and instability. Since 2003, Iraq is therefore facing a multi-layered crisis where the water and sanitation features at the top of national priorities, so this dormant war situation paralyze protection, preservation, not to speak about restrain and development? so videos Documentaries is very helpful for us in Iraq.

This would be a great work! The videos are very good tools in teaching and capacity building.

Unfortunately, those are not available. If videos are available on water, I will use those for different levels of teaching and trainings in Sri Lanka.

Additional remarks of respondents (2)

Sometimes we have to go to the rural areas where electricity is not available, then we use posters.

With changing climate, it is important that water is managed in a holistic manner for man and animal survival, promote off-rainfall season (irrigation-based)food production in wet, semi-arid and arid environments. This will minimise conflicts over water and other natural resources. It is also important to focus on water quality, pollution, wastewater treatment, especially in urbanising and industrialising areas. This has been and is still a problem in many developing countries that have not followed a well planned development path. The survival of many African communities is increasingly dependent on the availability and access to safe, clean and sufficient water. It is important to involved people in the development, management (maintenance) of water infrastructure i.e. development of water infrastructure should be based on a "people-centered" pathway. By so doing, it promotes support, popularity, ownership and sustainability of the water development/infrastructure by the recipient communities. Therefore, DVD models that showcase involvement of people in water development and success stories would be useful in the planned awareness/ education drive.WGI would be glad to contribute to the development of such DVD materials about the success, failure and needs stories of water development in Africa.

Timely Move. Keep us posted on the developments

Additional remarks of respondents (3)

This is a step in the right direction. To reduce the cost of learning it is good to have distance learning which can successfully be handled through Video DVD system presentations. Thank you. It would be very useful to have a video dealing with IWRM and its implications for- linkages with strategic environmental assessments and EIA. This would contribute to simultaneous mainstreaming environmental and water resources issues.

From my experience with online learning and use of valuable information available from the internet, I have noted that these learning resources are very important and do create pertinent awareness. However, students become more conscious of problems when the learning tools are based on situated learning. Unless the problems and case studies addressed are within their living environment, the level of commitment is low.

So any modules to be developed will need to take into consideration local problems and its own case studies.

We would like to work with CAP-NET in capacity building and awareness in water related issues

Dear Sir, Thanks very much for this. It is very helpful for the students and the lecturer to use these kind of new teaching tools. However, in Syria, the Internet connection still too low and not much reliable. i wonder if some, any, of there water related videos especially in the Subject of Groundwater can be sent to me by air mail (address below).

Additional remarks of respondents (4)

I think its wonderful idea, hope to implemented It would be useful to produce videos that are compatible with systems in

different parts of the world, i.e. PAL and NTSC. GREAT CONCEPT. PLEASE INCLUDE US IN ANY AND ALL VENTURES IN

THIS REGARD. It is too difficult to download in Syria, Would it be possible to receive

copies of the completed DVDs, Many Thanks If there could be pictures of the case study may be there has been an

intervention showing the area how it was before the intervention, during the intervention and after the intervention could be very helpful

We are dealing in water sector planning and development projects of rural areas of Pakistan.

TN-IAMWARM is a world Bank funded IWRM project implemented in 63 Sub-basins across the state of Tamil Nadu.We propose to provide a web-based course on water management to the water users associations and field functionaries mainly to build capacity of the individuals and institutions. The course will cover Participatory Irrigation Management,Water saving Crop Husbandry and Agri Business.

Additional remarks of respondents (5)

I will like to be informed of any regional workshop on Water Resources Management and related activities

May be included knowledge base (Ebooks, containing instructional and some theories). Case studies in village level are very important.

This could go a long way in enhancing skills and knowledge in managing some of the disasters which are related to water and climate change.

I really support this idea since it will easy the teaching and training task. Sometimes we have to train and explain some simple notions to politicians and non illiterate people. Scientific and academic methods seems to be inappropriate. We really need these kits! Thanks in advance!

I think it is important to focus on the variety of public that will attend the video, cultural and education level background, so that the material would be fully appreciated by the person attending it.

Community Water Resources development is one of our 5 sector pillars we have targetted for 2010. Small to medium dams to support micro irrigation development will be ideal projects for economic empowerment. DVDs and Video tapes topics on the above are very much appreciated.

Our project is Integrated Coastal Resources Management so we are also interested in water as a general topic or even as part of the overall program objectives

Additional remarks of respondents (6)

Videos should be such that what ever topic you discuss people can get the real picture in the video...it can be a very effective support material, It should not only deal with problems but also give solutions.

You can produce video about water settlements and human migration in the Word because in the areas suffering of the shortage of water , there is always forced migrants and refugees to other country for the search of new settlements of water. With my best regards!

As a Rural development worker in Nepal especially involved in Water, Sanitation and Livelihood through sustainable Agriculture Sector your highly reputed organization's publication and activities is subject of interest very much. Thanks…

Am interest with more than three topics such as urban water management, climate change and drinking water supply but, as it mentioned I just chose the most important three.
