QUESTION #1 This is a simple, multiple-choice question to give my group definitive answers as to which features we should use for our coursework; A webpage splash or a magazine splash. The question is designed to find out which option the potential viewers of our band would prefer to receive their music content through. Designing the option that the majority of the survey participants are interested in will allow us to receive more insight into what they want from this option. This will strengthen my finished piece of work and make sure it appeals to the audience of our band.

QUESTION #2 This question gathers information regarding the style of music video the participants would prefer to watch. The question is set out in a simple multiple choice form. There were 2 possible answers for this question; Live performance heavy or storyline heavy. The live performance heavy option refers to a music video which solely or mostly has scenes focused on the band performing their song some way. The storyline heavy option for this song refers to the scenes of the video which focus on an actor or a band member acting in a film/TV show like manner. This adds a fictional element to the video however the performance heavy option adds an authentic feel to the video. This will give us an idea as to whether the participants would prefer fictitious material or original material.

QUESTION #3 This is an open ended, text box question. This allows the participants to write as they wish without feeling bound to a limited selection of possible answers. The question was designed to assess particular, specific views from the participants regarding what it is they view as creative. A creative music video can be viewed and perceived in many different ways. By reading through various perceptions of a creative music video it will allow me to create a check list for my groups work. I will be able to take elements from every answer to hopefully create a video a wide range of people will find creative. The answers will mainly influence the content in the music video, for example, a possible answer could suggest that a participant finds love-based storylines creative.

QUESTION #4 This question is designed to give me insight into what to include and also what not to include in my music video. Some Indie music video conventions can be viewed as boring and some can be viewed as authentic and vital for a video. Distinguishing between the two through reading my answers will enable me which of them need to be included. Finding out what people are expecting can also help me surprise and shock viewers by creating music videos people are not expecting, this adds to the excitement. This can also ensure I include certain conventions to establish the videos credibility in the genre. The music video may only fit into the Indie genre if certain Indie traits are included.

WHAT WOULD YOU VIEW AS A ‘CREATIVE MUSIC VIDEO’?

WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT FROM A MUSIC VIDEO OF THE INDIE GENRE?

These questions are both set out in a layout style which gives the participants a text box to

write their answers. These questions aim to give us the maximum detail as to what the

participant thinks. The answers given will be taken to draw together a big picture.

QUESTION #5 This is a larger multiple choice question with 9 possible answers, giving the participants the ability to tick as many answers as they like. The aim was to decide which features people would prefer to view through a music platform. The answers will enable me to tailor the album itself to feature an extra visual dimension regarding one of the track lists music videos. I based my answers on the various music video extras which have been used in the past combined with common conventions, e.g. Behind the scenes. This will also link the album to other multi-media platforms, for example, TV as behind the scenes features are commonly linked to film maker’s extras shown on a DVD player.

QUESTION #6 This question is very similar to #5 in terms of the layout and setup however the aim is different. This question aims to add an auditory extra dimension to the album. The possible answers to this question are based on common conventions of song extras, such as acoustic editions. This will enable me to learn which of these features participants would be interested in, allowing me to add these to the finished album.

QUESTION #9 This question is set out in an open text box layout. The question asks the participants views on the band The Script, the artist behind my groups chosen song for our music video. The aim of this question was to gather an initial, brief response people have to the band. I can apply this feedback to the song itself as every song The Script do can be drawn together in some way due to their common traits and characteristics. I am hoping this question will give me insight into how the band are perceived in the public eye. This will enlighten me as to how the band’s music relates to people giving me ideas and themes to incorporate in the video itself. This will also give me the opportunity to differ parts of the music video from what people are expecting, creating a sense of excitement for any possible readers.

QUESTION #10 This question is very similar to the previous in terms of the layout and aims however the question focuses on the video itself as oppose to the song. This will give insight into, as previously stated, the stereotypes and predictions for the video and less insight into how the band as a whole relate to the audience. The answers gained from this question will enable me to change parts of the video the participants didn’t like and strengthen the sections they did. Overall, this will create a consistent video.

These open-ended text box questions are focused on the song and the artist behind the song my group are

using for our coursework. These will help our decisions.
