Fast Measurement CycleThe Surtronic 25 incorporates thelatest electronics for very fastanalysis - results are calculated anddisplayed even before the traverseunit returns. This fast processing,combined with intuitive menubuttons, greatly reducesmeasurement cycles.
Intuitive Menu StructureThe Surtronic 25 incorporates a largeLCD screen which allows full menuand measurement results to bedisplayed. Using only two buttonsthe user can scroll through themenus and make selectionsintuitively before pressing theMEASURE key. All selections aresaved for future measurements. Allthe measurement criteria and resultsare displayed clearly on the screenready to print or export to a PC.
This new edition of the long-standing Surtronic range brings a large display with the simplest of menustructures and the most up-to-date parameters. Its mechanical rigidity and styli have a firm reputation forreliable and repeatable surface finish measurements across a wide range of applications.
The Surtronic 25 is battery powered and offers total portability with a built-in memory capacity (holds up to 100readings). The instrument can be used either freestanding (on horizontal, vertical or even inverted surfaces) orbench mounted with fixturing for batch measurement and laboratory applications.

Unique Stylus Lift MechanismThe Surtronic 25 has a uniquely engineered stylus liftmechanism which allows a vertical adjustment of 50mmand rotation of the pick-up to different measuringpositions, including right angle or invertedmeasurements. These adjustments to the height andposition of the gauge allow areas and features of a part tobe easily measured without additional complex fixturing.This feature saves the operator a huge amount of set uptime and allows total flexibility. Typical applications wherethe stylus lift is invaluable include the measurement ofsteps, bores, grooves and lands.
Built-in Memory/StorageNo PC or printer cables in your way while you measure -the Surtronic 25 is now truly portable: Take your Surtronicwherever you need to take measurements, save as manybatch readings as you need (max 100 measurements) thendownload to your PC or printer at your convenience.
Optional software is available for PC downloads - code112/3810-01 including cable.
Long traverse length and extended Pick-up reachThe Surtronic 25 can traverse up to 25mm (or as little as0.25mm) depending on your component. In addition, thestylus length and pick-up configuration give a long reach,making it an ideal instrument for features such as largeand narrow bores. Optional extension rods extend thepick-up further (see accessories page).
Comprehensive Range of Accessories &Pick-ups Taylor Hobson has developed an extensive range of pick-ups and accessories to suit the varied measurementneeds of our customers. In addition to the pick-ups shownon page 6 our applications department regularly designsand manufactures pick-ups and fixturing for specificrequirements.
The dimensions of the Surtronic 25 and the pick-upsavailable are all fully compatible with existing Surtronic 3,3P and 3+ instruments.
Powerful Software OptionsThe Surtronic 25 includes an RS232 multi-function portwhich allows connection of a printer or export ofmeasurement results to a PC for further analysis using theoptional Talyprofile software (see next page). By settingthe Surtronic 25 to 'Data Dump' mode, measurementsand setup can be instigated directly from the Talyprofile software.
Advanced surface finish analysisTalyprofile is a dedicated softwarepackage designed for use withworkshop or laboratory instruments.
Two versions are available.Talyprofile "Silver" has all functionstypically used for a shopfloorinspection. Talyprofile "Gold" hascomplete laboratory analysisfunctions:
