SurgiNet - Preoperative Checklist The Preoperative Checklist may not be visible as a default in Interactive View. If the Preoperative Checklist is not on view, the navigator band can be added in manually. Once added in by the user it will remain on view for all subsquent patients and logins. 1. Within the patient’s chart, click on the Interactive View menu tab. 2. Navigate to the Task Bar Task Bar and select View > Layout > Navigator Bands. 3. The Navigator Documents window will display. 4. Within the Navigator Documents window select the appropriate navigator band and use the arrow to move them across to Current Document Types. 5. Select OK. 6. The Changes to Navigator Bands window will display – select OK. 7. Exit the patients chart, and then reopen – the Preoperative Checklist will now be an available Navigator Band. 8. Select the Preoperative Checklist or Paediatric PreOp Assessment Navigator band (whatever is appropriate for your patients age). 9. Navigate to the Preoperative Checklist section within the band to begin documentation. Please ensure one or both of the appropriate Navigator Bands for your area are added: Preoperative Checklist Band – for Adults Paediatric Preop Assessment Band – for Paediatrics Preoperative Checklist bands do not need to be added to Emergency Department roles as the preoperative checklist section is already included in the: ED Adult Condensed View ED Paediatric Condensed View Preoperative Checklist – August 2018 QGEA-PUBLIC

SurgiNet - Preoperative Checklist

The Preoperative Checklist may not be visible as a default in Interactive View. If the Preoperative Checklist is not on view, the navigator band can be added in manually. Once added in by the user it will remain on view for all subsquent patients and logins.

1. Within the patient’s chart, click on the Interactive

10. Complete the electronic checklist for your patient.

Remember to select the green tick to save theinformation entered.

11. When you are ready to exit the patient record pleaseremember to exit through the exit door symbol.

Second Person Validation

The Preoperative Checklist is able to be completed and saved by two clinicians simultaneously (if required) using the Checklist Done simultaneously cell. This functionality should only be used when clinically necessary, and the Preoperative Checklist should reoutinely be completed by the ward nurse before transferring the patient to the Operating Theatre (where the second checklist will be completed).

1. Click into the Checklist Done simultaneously cell andselect Yes (only complete this cell if the checklist isbeing done by two clinicians simultaneously. If notleave this cell blank).

2. Click the Green Tick to sign the checklist.

3. The Witness Required window will open.

4. Type in the name of the witness in the Witnessed Byfield.

5. The Witness Signature window will open.

6. Confirm the 2nd person is correct.

7. Click Witness Sign button.

8. The Authorising Signature window will open – witness to type username and password, and clicks OK.

9. The information within the Perioperative Checklist is now saved.

Viewing Users Involved in Simultaneous Check In

1. Right click on the Yes within the Checklist Done Simultaneously cell.

2. Click View Result Details.

3. The Results Details window will open.

4. Click Action List.
