Each chapter emphasizes the pyschological implications for child and parent. Most in- formation and stress is placed on the more common disorders. This text is well written, concise and easily readable. It fulfills its purpose as a text geared to the student nurse, particularlv in relation to her pediatric nursing course. The volume contains 43 chapters with ar- ticles by 34 authors, all experts in their own fields. These specialists, although drawn from three continents and from many medical schools. express views which are generall! accepted and which establish a sound bask for surgical practice. Most systems and organs are discussed in this informative reference book. Guidance is also given on such diverse subjects as the rapidly changing treatment of venereal dis- ease, and the medico-legal aspects of medi- cine. This latter subject. although interesting. will not be beneficial to American readers since it deals solely with English and Scot- tish laws. The chapters on minor operations and the treatment of fractures are especially interesting. This book, although written in a style which is simple, clear and precise will prob- ably be more advantageous to the surgical resident than the surgical nurse.
