SUPPORTING THE IOSH LEADERSHIP JOURNEY 2018 - 2020
2
BACKGROUND TO THE PROGRAMME
With over 47,000 members in more than 130 countries, IOSH is the world’s largest professional health and safety organisation. In 2018 Team Boo were successful in tendering for an organisation wide leadership and management refresh which included the development of a new set of leadership expectations and the subsequent leadership programme which was to be delivered at IOSH HQ in Leicestershire. In their brief IOSH stated their ambition to be a leader in the profession, a respected partner in business and an organisation with global leader reach. To achieve this, they aimed to broaden and deepen the learning, skill-sets, capabilities, behaviours and self-awareness of the workforce to meet its future challenges.
Team Boo worked with the IOSH leadership community to bring their values to life, helping their bosses be better bosses and creating the conditions for success.

WHAT WE DID
Before we designed the programme we took an opportunity to build connection with leaders across IOSH through a series of activities including some surveys and a face to face session where we explored what leadership meant to the team and what behaviours were most important. From this deep dive into the organisation we were able to develop a set of leadership expectations which we mapped against the organisational values to create a self assessment and 360 tool to be used later on in the programme.

“Team Boo have been working closely with IOSH on a learning and development programme as part of a wider transformational change
which we are leading. I found Team Boo, in particular, Becci, to be extremely attuned to the needs of our organisation and of us as
individuals as we went through the programme. They took the time to really understand the organisation, its challenges and where we were at as managers and leaders. From a personal point of view,
taking the time out of an extremely pressured agenda meant I needed to get full value out of participating. They say it is hard to
teach old dogs new tricks but Becci succeeded with gentle challenge and bundles of energy. I really appreciated being encouraged to
think and self-reflect in a safe and slowed down environment. This was valuable time away from the hustle and bustle of the office.”
