To look after people that need our help

To look after the youngsters, who will look after people who need their help

Why are we here?

• To raise awareness of the new UG model among colleagues in training + management

• To consider how we can best welcome students into our MDT

• To consider how we can help them feel, and be, helpful within ward teams

• To understand what support trainees + clinical management might need for this

Restarting clinical placements

• Training of healthcare students is critical

• Students need to complete their studies and start working

• Foundation doctors are vital members of clinical teams

• NHS Planning dependent on graduation on time

• Students are recognised as key workers

• Service has undergone significant reconfiguration

• Large groups of students no longer appropriate on ward

• Patients may be hesitant to see large groups of students

• Some areas may no longer be appropriate for students e.g. AGPs

• Changes to out-patients - more telephone and video consultation

What will the new model look like?

The students will become a meaningful part of our team• 10-week placements• 7-day weeks• 6 - 8 students per ward• Longer shifts• Max. 2 students at any one time

Clinical experience will be immersive and longitudinal
