What is World Book Day?

World Book Day is a celebration!

It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and most importantly it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

Our books are collected from our

warehouse in south London and

transported on large ships.

Our brand new books are then

safely delivered to our partner libraries in

sub-Saharan Africa.

Imagine a world without books!

• In sub-Saharan Africa books are a precious resource which very few can afford.

• The libraries Book Aid International support provide brand new books to

children and young adults living in some of the poorest communities in sub-

Saharan Africa.“I am happy to see children

running to the library from

the schools even before they

get to their homes to change.

It tells us how valuable things

are in the library.”

Margret Apondi,

Teacher

• Hundreds of schools across the UK, Scotland, Ireland and the Channel Islands fundraise for Book Aid International each year.

• Donations raised by schools help Book Aid International to select, pack and ship hundreds of brand new books to libraries in Africa.
