● Do More 24 Racine to replace Day of Caring/Day of
Action
● Volunteer projects can take place any time on May
16-17 (not just noon to noon)
● Goals:
○ 250 volunteer spots
○ Nonprofits: leverage their boards, clients, and existing
volunteers
○ United Way of Racine County: leverage relationships
to mobilize the community to volunteer
Important Dates
● March 22: Target for posting volunteer opportunities
● March 25-April 5: United Way promotes volunteer
opportunities to corporate partners
● April 8: Public volunteer recruitment begins
● May 16-17: Volunteer projects take place! (Can be at any
point during the two days, not just noon to noon.)
Things to Consider When Planning a Volunteer Project
● Your own staff capacity and organizational needs
● Appropriateness of work for volunteers
● The realistic number of volunteers you need to complete
the project
● Any special skills, talents, abilities that volunteers may
need

● Give your opportunity a name - This could be as creative or straightforward as you would like!
● Include a detailed description of your opportunity, giving specific details about location, time, and date.
● Include a picture to make your opportunity appealing and eye-catching for your supporters.

In the project description, be sure to include:
● Any specific skills or abilities that volunteers need to be
successful.
● Any tools/materials that volunteers need to bring and/or
note the tools/materials that will be provided.
● Volunteer attire.
● Weather contingency information.
