Remarks• HP video applications are required over

distributed backbones from users• but……from our experiences

– Multicast based applications is very important among academic communities, but enabling multicast is a hard work

– End to end performance guarantee for HP UDP or TCP applications is impossible without advanced measurement and bandwidth resources adjustment

• Analysis of the fundamental problems and try to find solutions

– DVTS application behavior and network test results may have different meaning

• DVTS application: 30Mbps, UDP port 8000, etc• Network test: 1Kbps, ICMP, show AS-path

– The packets are traveling cross difference AS, the path is likely asymmetric, and the end2end path may not be the same as what the NOC sees.

• The end users do not know the network traffic and the NOCs do not know the end2end

– The firewalls and the QoS policies may deployed somewhere in the path

Problem statement (cont.)

• Packet loss– Packet loss is the key factor for auto-

adjustment of TCP rate-control, it should be very very small

• Window size – If the packet loss is zero, but RTT is large for

a specific physical link, increase the window size of the operation system of the end system can improve the transmission throughput

Dear Zhang Xuan,

KREONET NOC found a number of bottleneck points in domestic IPv6 network.I guess it is coupled with using dual-stack ipv4 & ipv6 in KR side.

Currently, ipv6 performance is confined with 450Mbps so i'm looking for the other ways tocontinue our tests for ipv6.
