Rewards and recognition
How do I become an AFL Schools Ambassador?
All state football bodies reward and recognise AFL School Ambassadors in various ways. All ambassadors have the opportunity to be nominated as their state or territory’s AFL Schools Ambassador of the Year where the winner and their partner/guest attend an AFL finals series game and function in Melbourne.
What is it all about?
The AFL Schools Ambassador Program
(AFLSA) aims to resource, recognise and
reward teachers who strongly promote the
game of Australian Football. Importantly,
the program establishes an alliance between
schools and state football bodies to develop
and promote Australian Football in the
classroom and on the sporting field.• Liaise between the school and local junior Australian
Football community clubs and Auskick centres• Promote holiday clinics and junior/youth registration
days in media/school newsletters• Ensure Australian footballs are available for
students to play with during school breaks• Ensure there are goalposts on the oval• Ensure Australian Football activities are part
of the school’s PE/sport program
