Supply Company newletter - July2012-Part II.TRANSCRIPT
The month of July has brought many changes to the Storage
Section, we have divided the work force into two separate
crews, a 20 man Day crew and a 50 man Night crew. The day
crew will have the responsibilities of performing the
overall turn-over duties with the 12.2 Marines. The Night
crew is still shaping the overall appearance and
functionally of the entire Storage Lot, in preparation for
the in-coming 12.2 Marines.
Marines are currently performing other military training
outside of their primary Military Occupational Specialty
(MOS), they are participating in various levels of the
Marine Corps Martial Arts Programs (MCMAP), off-duty
education as well as Marine Corps Institute (MCI) courses.
The Storage Marines also took part in the overall victory
for the Maintenance Battalion field meet where Supply
Company took all honors and victories over all company’s in
the battalion.
Storage has celebrated three birthdays this month:
Corporal Smith, Jerome C. Jr July 21
Staff Sergeant Castrellon, Elda J. July 23
Sergeant Penolan, Russel H. July 26
Storage Reenlistments:
Master Sergeant Douglas, Cody J.
The Storage Section is gearing down at this time
and will be preparing to return home in the up
coming months.
Example of a what Storage looked like when we
arrived and after, look at the light pole in the
rear.
The Marines and Sailors of Medical Logistics Detachment continue to have excellent
attitudes and work ethic. All of the Marines and Sailors remaine extremely positive in spite of
challenging conditions and never ending work. They continue to provide outstanding tactical
CLVIII logistics Support to more than 70 supported units throughout the AO. In the month of
July, MEDLOG Marines and Sailors became accustomed to using the newly implemented DMLSS System to
manage inventory, requisition supplies, and track equipment and its maintenance history. MEDLOG
continued to send out Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETS) to units at the tip of the spear
to provide excellent repair, preventive maintenance, installation and guidance for retrograde.
MEDLOG Marines and Sailors worked extremely hard to receive numerous triwall containers of
incoming medical supplies retrograded from units at Forward Operating Bases (FOBs). In addition,
they consolidated 34 ISO containers into 13 through retrograde to CONUS and donation to ANSF
through the FEPP, all in preparation for 12.2’s arrival in the near future.
On top of the primary mission, Marines and Sailors also worked on personal improvement
through the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) and Marine Corps Institute (MCI) Courses.
The photos below show the before and after state of our main row of ISO containers. What
You see on the left is a picture taken early on in our deployment when the Marines and
Sailors were conducting a wall-to-wall inventory. The photo on the right shows triwall
Containers of the CLVIII materiel that was pulled out for either retrograde to the USA
or donation to the Afghans through the Foreign Excess Personal Property (FEPP)
Program. This gear was donated to make the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) more
logistically self-sufficient. As you can see the Marines and Sailors have worked extremely
hard to shrink the lot and prepare for the next oncoming crew of Marines and Sailors.
