Honey’s Happenings…
Welcome to APICS year 2015-2016! This will be filled with education opportunities, networking events and opportunities to share with your supply chain colleagues! I would like to extend my sincere ‘Thank You’ to the 2014-2015 Colorado APICS Chapter Board of Directors for a productive, dynamic and eventful year. Your Board put in a significant amount of personal time and effort behind the scenes to make each of the courses, events and activities memorable. I hope you were able to share a few of the outstanding events with our Colorado Chapter. Thank you also, to our member volunteers for additional help during the year. 2014-2015 was an exceptional year for Colorado Chapter education, with outstanding courses providing frequent ‘life-long learning’ opportunities. Both public and privately held courses continue to receive rave reviews. Be sure to read the quotes from Colorado APICS Chapter students expressing their high regards for Colorado Chapter courses and instructors later this newsletter. Check the schedule for upcoming classes this fall to help you maintain your supply chain edge. Programs will be providing many worthwhile opportunities to learn new skills, discuss current relevant topics and network with fellow colleagues at monthly professional development meetings and local area tours. Programs will provide details and schedules on upcoming events in this newsletter and updates in the coming months as additional activities are planned. Just around the corner, our acclaimed networking event co-hosted with other area supply chain organizations. Each year I am asked about this great opportunity to contribute ideas and experiences with our colleagues in supply chain. Be sure to sign up quickly for the August 6th Networking Event at Denver University. It continues to be a highly anticipated and rewarding evening of camaraderie and sharing. Don’t miss out! Registration information is on the cover page of this newsletter. In late July we held our annual Strategic Planning meeting to review last year’s accomplishments and set the coming year’s goals and objectives. I appreciate the time and contributions from all the participants who help define strategies for the year. In future newsletters, I will be sharing those goals with you. I hope you have an opportunity to join us throughout the year. Learn from industry experts, mingle with contemporaries, learn from colleagues, and listen to great speakers. Students and seasoned professionals can benefit from the wealth of knowledge our Colorado chapter has to offer. I look forward to continuing the Colorado APICS Chapter’s tradition of excellence and sharing it with you. Please contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions for our Colorado APICS Chapter. Best Regards,

“Attending the 5 day CSCP course conducted Colorado APICS is highly recommended for anyone preparing to take the
APICS CSCP exam. Their knowledge and work related experience in the Global Supply Chain industry was a great help in teaching the
concepts in a fun and enjoyable learning setting. There is so much information to study, without this class it would be an overwhelming
task to complete on an independent level.” Stephen Robles C.P.M, CPIM, CSCP, Director of Materials & Warehouse Operations

“APICS has been offering classes at WhiteWave’s headquarters, which has been truly beneficial for our company. We recently completed the five CPIM courses, and had people from all areas of the supply chain enrolled. In a fast-paced, evolving field like Operations and Supply Chain, it’s important to stay informed with new practices and ideas. APICS allows busy professionals to gain important knowledge and skills while only committing a couple hours a week at class. It’s all possible because of the dedicated instructors that make learning easy with their passion to teach and real-world expertise.” Ben Osenbaugh, Fluid Transportation Logistics Specialist, WhiteWave Foods Company

What are Students saying about APICS Education in Colorado?
“Throughout my career I have learned anything you can do to set yourself apart from the competition is a great advantage which is why I initially took the APICS classes to pass the CPIM certification tests. By the end of the classes I realized that there were so many other areas of supply chain that I learned about and I am grateful for my expanded knowledge that I can apply in my work. Since getting my CPIM certification I have since been approached about a great promotion that will help take me to the next level in my career.” Heather Kniker, CPIM, AT&T Supply Chain Manager
“After recently obtaining my CPIM certification through the completion of all the APICS requirements, I can honestly say it has greatly broadened my understanding and capacity to function at not only the tactical level, but also the strategic level within the Supply Chain Management organization. The information and insight provided by the APICS instructors through the learning material is truly invaluable in today’s complex, global realm of business.” Brett Horacek, CPIM, CSCP, Supply Chain Management, Hospira, Inc.
”I recently was able to complete my CPIM certification and the education classes were instrumental in my success. I took the first test without class and had to study 3 times more than I needed on any of the other courses. The interaction during the classes with the instructor and other students help me remember items better and have a good sense of how things happen in the real world and not just in the text books. The instructors that I had were very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions. The instructors were also very receptive to helping outside of class. I don't think I would have been able to complete the entire certification in 5 months without the classes and help from the instructors.” Michael Atwell , CPIM, Manager of Business Operations, Arrow Electronics
“I was able to take and pass the CPIM exam suite with the help of the courses offered by my local APICS (Chapter 81)
organization. The detailed review of their materials allowed me to pass each exam at the first attempt. Class discussion and the real life
examples of the concepts helped my understanding enormously. I subsequently took the CSCP classes and just passed that exam last
week. The bi-weekly classes were key to my success. I feel well prepared to handle the challenges of the fast paced Supply Chain
environment!” Caren King, MBB, CSCP, CPIM, Program Manager, Supply Chain Operations, Seagate Technology
"Between the classes, the material, and preparing for the exam, I learned a ton that I can apply to work. I am fairly new to Supply Chain, just 4 years, so this experience has been extremely beneficial!" Randy Sullivan, CSCP, Sr. Manager, SCM Planning & Forecasting, Supply Chain Management, DirecTV
