This includes the parts of a cell, identifying microscopic organisms, parts of a plant, and classification of living things.

Classroom Guidelinesfor Students

Student Responsibilities:1. Bring materials to class

Binder Loose leaf paper Pencils/colored pencils Blue/black/red pens School planner

2. Headings on paper should include :

your FIRST and LAST name Date Period

3. Each day check the board for introductory activities, assignments or reading

4. Get out your homework and/or materials for the day.

5. Quality of work NOT speed is important

Final written work (labs, projects, etc.) should be typed or on loose leaf paper using blue/black pen (not paper torn ripped!)

To answer questions on labs and tests, provide details and specifics. Yes or No is not a complete answer, you have to explain.

Use complete sentences Check your work

6. All tests should be taken in blue/black PEN (don’t lose a point for using pencil!)

7. When absent, check teacher websites for homework and the homework center in your classroom. D

8. Be a good listener

9. Do your best and have fun!

What should I do, if I don’t understand the material?

Be a good scientist, ask questions and try to solve your problem.

Here’s how to start:

•review the material again (use your notes or go to your teacher’s website)•talk to/or discuss with a classmate or parent•go see the teacher during advisory.

It is not always possible to see the teacher during class time. There are too many distractions at the beginning of class, so try to see your teacher when he/she has the time to go over the material with you.

Resources

Teacher websites have a lot of information available including fun and interesting websites. The 6th grade team also has a website that has daily homework, long range planner, online textbook links and information about your teachers.

Use the Common Goal/Teacher Ease grade program to check on your grades. Use this information to talk to your teacher about things you can do to do better.
