How to Post a Work-‐Study Job on Cat Connect

1) If you are a returning user, “Log In” and then skip to Step 5. If this is your first time using Cat Connect, please select “Register” and then go to Step 3. If you’ve already registered but forgot your password, go to Step 4.
2) Register your specific department (aka “organization”).
Returning users… Log in and skip to Step 5.
First time users… Click “Register” and then go to Step 3.
Please follow this exact format when creating your “Organization Name”: Linfield College – Department Name Example: Linfield College – Human Resources
Linfield College – Cleaning Services
Always select “Education” as your default industry. You may also choose multiple industries by holding down the control key (or if Mac, the Apple key).
Be sure to check “Job Postings” and any other boxes that apply.

Important – Enter the information of the person who will regularly post and manage the student work-‐study positions. The log-‐in information is specific to an individual. Additional users may be added to each department once the initial profile is completed. Example – You can use a department email address that anyone in the office can use to log in, or use your own personal Linfield email and have other people in the department use their own as well if they want access.
After submitting your information, you will receive an email from [email protected] with your username and password within two business days.

3) If you’ve already registered but forgotten your password, click on “Forgot my password.” In the Username field, enter your username (your Linfield email address, complete with @linfield.edu). Click “Go.” You will be emailed a link to reset your password.
4) After logging in, click on “Create Job Posting.”
Click on “Forgot my password” tab. Enter email address. Click “Go.”
Click on “Create Job Posting.”

5) Select one of the three student employment work-‐study options: 1) PDX Student Employment On-‐Campus; 2) Student Employment Off-‐Campus; or 3) Student Employment On-‐Campus.
“Organization Type” is ALWAYS Campus
Department.
Student Employment work-‐study options… Select “off-‐campus” if the worksite is off Linfield campus (e.g. Kids on the Block, America Reads).
Resume Receipt Options… E-‐mail: Students apply directly through Cat Connect. As students submit their applications, each individual application packet is emailed to you. Accumulate Online: Students apply directly through Cat Connect. You can log in and review applications at any time. When the position closes, you will receive an email notifying you that the applications are ready to review. Other: Choose this option if you have specific instructions for the applicant, e.g. “Hand deliver your resume and cover letter, along with three letters of reference to…” This will open a new field labeled, “How to Apply”

Students will only be able to view information in this field if they have a resume already uploaded into Cat Connect. Select any additional
documents you request, such as a cover letter or a writing sample.
If you have a flyer or separate application form, upload it her and specify that students need to fill it out by selecting “Other Documents” in the additional documents field.
Make sure your posting and expiration dates are accurate. You can always edit them later if you need to.
Specify when the job is open (i.e. fall 2014 or 2014-‐2015 academic year) & list the number hours per week the student will need to be available to work.

Effective January 1st, 2014 minimum wage increased to $9.10 per hour
After completing the Position Information, click “Submit.” Career Development must approve all positions before they are posted. Please allow two business days for processing.
