The Supermec is Australia’s first post–hydraulic technology, traction lift designed specifically for the residential market and is the ultimate in home elevators. It is the absolute luxury choice in lifts and is sold exclusively by Lift Shop.

Designed and made in Italy, the Supermec was first introduced to Australia in January 2005 and was immediately recognised for its advanced technology. It is machine room-free and has a battery drive system, which means its uses very little power (approximately 87% less energy than the hydraulic drive systems) and can even run during a power failure. Such impressive environmental credentials meant that the Supermec was the only lift to be displayed at ENERGETHICA – Europe’s leading exhibition for innovation in Energy and Environmental conservation.

The Supermec is equally renowned for its good looks, with custom manufacturing and stunning Italian styling. Manufactured by the same company responsible for Lift Shop’s ElfoLift, Supermec can be completely customised in size and style, to ensure a lift that is as individual as you are.

From sliding doors that open and close at the push of a button, to its minimised pit depth, marginal overhead clearance and no machine room requirements, the Supermec is every customer’s dream and the envy of our competitors.

SUPERMEC®

The Supermec 2 is new in 2011 and introduces an improved drive and computer system to the traditional Supermec model. With these advances, Supermec sets another new standard in Australian residential lifts, it is faster and stronger, with the ability to travel at an impressive 0.50m/s (66% faster than Supermec and most other home lifts), carrying an additional two people.

Supermec 2: faster (0.50m/s) and stronger (up to 630kg or nine passengers)

At Lift Shop, being world class is not a static condition. We remain the leaders by continuing to innovate and improve. This is how we maintain our clear leadership position in the competitive Australian residential lift market. Whilst others are still stuck in the hydraulic era, the Supermec now enters its 10th year in the post-hydraulic traction market.

There has been several significant events in the history of the passenger lift, some of which include:

YEAR1853 Elisha Graves Otis creates the first lift for public use.

It travels five floors, carries 450kg at 0.2m/s and is located on Broadway, New York City

1867 The first hydraulic lift is installed at the Trocadero Palace

1911 The first high rise lifts serving the 41 level Singer Building in New York are installed

1935 The first lift is installed on a ship, the Normandy Ocean Liner

1936 The first automatic control lift is installed as the lift operator era ends

1948 The first electronic controlled system detecting calls, and then remembering them, is installed

1970s Hydraulics begin to become the popular drive for low-rise lifts

1996 Kone markets the first MRL (machine room-less) traction lift, eliminating the need for machine rooms with its revolutionary flat pancake motor

1997 The world begins to recognise the need to reduce environmental impact and power consumption

1998 Major lift companies world wide steer R & D and product range towards the MRL Traction

1999 A new era with a global approach to compliance standards begins, reducing manufacturing costs and enabling lifts to be sold with less need to adapt to specific local requirements

2000 Recognition of the needs of the elderly and infirm is under way and an accessibility for all trend begins

2000 Dramatic reduction in the use of MRLs and hydraulic lifts is seen globally

2003 The Supermec is released in Italy2005 The Supermec is released in Australia2007 Kone elevators announces it will no longer produce

hydraulic lifts in order to be more environmentally efficient

The lift industry continues to evolve with exciting new developments year after year.

The Next Generation in Lifts

technological evolutionpost hydraulic

The trend has continued and today hydraulics are an older, basic and cheaper option and prefered for discount and goods lift situations. They account for a fraction of the market.

LIFT SHAFTS

The Supermec is supplied with or without a steel shaft

Lifts require a shaft in which to run. The Shaft is either built by a builder or supplied by the lift company.

MASONRY SHAFTSConcrete, brick or block shafts are usually built into the home as part of the construction process (190mm thick load bearing walls are common). They are preferred by customers who want the lift to “blend in”. They require a bigger total outside shaft footprint due to the thickness of the concrete walls and may be cheaper in a new building situation.

STEEL SHAFTSWhere a sleek and sophiscated style is required for the entire outside of the lift shaft, the shaft is often purchased in addition to the lift. The steel shafts have a smaller outside footprint due to the 50mm thick load bearing structure, so are also popular when space is limited. Steel and glass shafts are extremely popular where a functional light well or architectural effect is desired.

The steel shafts look sensational, and are designed to impress the most discerning customers.

Steel shafts are also very quick to install because they are modular, designed to be carried through a normal door opening, do not require roof removal or a crane, and they sustain their own loads.

SAFETY AND SECURITYLift Shop recognises that safety is paramount and has a perfect safety record. We will not use single or triple beam sensors, only full height light rays are the safe solution for automatic lifts (as per the European directives).

Safety is an invisible feature, like a car airbag, but it is also the valuable feature.

Supermec safety features include:Multiple steel ropes with 40 ton breaking strain •

Overload indicators giving audible warning of overload • conditions

Over-speed sensing safety gear, which automatically and • mechanically engages in the event of a descent or ascent that is too quick.

A siren•

A independently powered telephone•

Self-rescue systems•

An active safety circuit which continuously monitors the lift•

Full-height light ray protection (180 beam) •

Electrical locks that make it impossible for the lift to travel • when the landing door is not closed

Mechanical locks that make it impossible for the landing • door to open when the lift is not at floor level

Separate battery supply that keeps the lights and lift • working during power failure

design and performance Before a lift becomes available to the market it has to pass rigorous qualification criteria and tests and must be design registered with our Australian regulatory authorities.

As a leading European lift product, the Supermec easily met or exceeded the requirements of the Australian standard, and is now installed in many hundreds of locations throughout Europe and Australia.

The Supermec runs on nylon rollers within sealed bearings ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride on precision engineered guide rails.

IMPACT•ENVIRONMENTThe impact of the lift on its environment is massive. These are reduced by the Supermec.

Space Utilisation

Deep and expensive excavations for pits (waterproof) are • not necessary

Top hat sections for the headroom are not necessary•

Machinery space and machine rooms are not necessary•

Energy Efficient

Single phase 20A power on which to continuously charge • with trickle power

Lights that turn off when the lift is not in use•

Park at last exit point to avoid unnecessary runs•

Our lifts use significantly less power and space than any similar product available in the market place as at April 2011.
