Congratulations to the following students who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society at the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center on Tuesday February 9: Benjamin Kutz – Sports Therapy Sciences Chelse Murray – Health Careers Technology Alyssa Rivera – Health Careers Technology We are thrilled to have our Chinese Guest Teacher’s son, Hoaran Wang, attend Southwest Elementary School as a guest student for the remainder of the 2015-2016 school year. 4 th and 5 th Grade Field Trip to LVC Thirty 4 th and 5 th grade students from all five elementary schools toured the Jerry Pinkney exhibition of Images and Words at Lebanon Valley College on February 1. Students had the opportunity to meet Jerry and Gloria Pinkney and participate in a related activity. Our librarians, Charlotte Weyant and Ashley Feldman organized this trip, working with Tina Washington. Jerry and Gloria Pinkney are both African American. Later, Dr. Bartley presented Pinkney’s book, Aesop’s Fables to each student who went on the trip. Each book had a book plate with the name of the student and the name of the elementary school where he/she attends. This trip was made possible with a grant from the Cedar Foundation. Our district sadly has quite a few students battling pediatric cancer and are Four Diamond families. We want to do all we can to show them our love and support. Join us at Lebanon High School on Saturday, April 2 nd for our Mini-THON. A kick off assembly was held at Southwest Elementary School on Friday, February 12 th . Four Diamond Mini-THON Chinese Guest Student CTC’s National Technical Honor Society A Multicultural event will take place on Wednesday, April 13, with an evening of rich cultural performances, food and music. Community members are expected to fill our Atrium from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to bask in the great food and environment. Come see the student led Parade of Flags. Multiple unique ethnic organizations will be showcased. Together the diversity represents our student population. Entertainment will be provided throughout the evening. Last year, Lebanon Middle School student, Solia Horn, won the Multicultural Festival catch phrase contest: “Bringing Cultures Together Through Education and Enjoyment”. High School student, Mariangelys Pagan will be singing the National Anthem and giving her Diversity speech. And, Chinese Guest student, Hoaran Wang will be playing the piano. Multicultural Festival As laws change, we will continue to work with our solicitor on providing policy updates and new policies. All School Board Policies are posted on our website at www.lebanon.k12.pa.us under Board of Directors. Rotary Students of the Month

Jennifer Escobar

Jennifer is the daughter of Yolanda and Donald Escobar of Lebanon. She is a

member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, LVC Partnership

Program and Soccer Team. Jennifer plans to attend Nova Southeastern University to study Medicine.

Isaiah Fenstermaker

Isaiah is the son of Jennifer and Chris Fenstermaker of Lebanon. He is a

member of National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, STAR Club and LHS

Musical. Isaiah plans to enlist in the Army for active duty, with Military Intelligence.

Northwest Elementary School Update

Athletic News

During the month of February we celebrated both President’s Day and Black History Month. Students participated in a variety of activities honoring George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and the contributions of many Black Americans who they researched.

Performances will be held on March 3, 4, and 5, at 7:30 p.m.; and March 6, at 3 p.m., in the Starr Auditorium, Lebanon High School.
