What a phenomenal SC15 in Austin
November. For those members not
familiar with this trade event it is king of
High Performance Computing.
Over 50% of our membership works in
or has solutions for HPC.
The OpenPOWER Foundation took over
the floor having 46 members attending
with most members demonstrating
OpenPOWER solutions to a
High Performance Computing Audience.
We turned the show floor OpenPOWER

Member companies are enabled to customize POWER
CPU processors and system platforms for optimization
and innovation for their business needs. Video
With over 170+ members the
OpenPOWER Summit is the
place to be. Once again we will

At the end of 2014, Rackspace announced its affiliation with OpenPOWER. At that time, we shared our intention to build an OpenPOWER server that cut across four major open source community initiatives (OpenStack, Open Com-pute, OpenPOWER, and, of course, Linux).
This past spring, at the Open
Compute and OpenPOWER
annual summits, Rackspace
offered up our vision for a
more powerful cloud, and
shared our “Barreleye” server
concept design. (We chose to
name it after the barreleye fish
because as you can see from
the photo above, the fish has a
transparent head. Get it? It’s
open!)

OpenPOWER Foundation Names
New Board Leadership to Propel
POWER Architecture
The OpenPOWER Foundation today announced the election of John Zannos, Canonical, Chair, and Calista Redmond, IBM, President of the OpenPOWER Foundation Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2016. Zannos and Redmond bring deep knowledge of the open technology development community and intimate familiarity with the Foundation’s core mission, with both playing key roles within the Foundation since 2014. The new leadership will continue to guide the proliferation of OpenPOWER-based technology solutions built on IBM’s POWER architecture in today’s datacenters.
Former Chair, Gordon MacKean of
Google, and President, Brad
McCredie of IBM, will remain close
advisors to the OpenPOWER
Foundation, serving as non-voting
Board Advisors to provide
technical and strategic roadmap
guidance as appropriate.
