DescriptionA small, easily accessible block of commercially planted woodland in an area of high amenity with good access to the public highway and wider road network.
The woodland is believed to have been planted in the late 1970s and is now nearing maturity for clear felling. It is a mixed conifer plantation of predominantly Norway Spruce with additional stands of Larch and Douglas Fir.
The crop has been well managed with line thinning and brashing, with attractive rides and open area. There are also two ponds.
SiteThe site is generally flat with drainage running northward to the ponds and wide open ditches on the boundary with adjoining woodland. It lies about 90 m above sea level with deep base, rich, clay loamy soils.
Location and AccessSunny Cross Plantation is located about 2 miles south of Nunthorpe and 2 miles north of Stokesley, just off the B1365 which is an agreed timber haulage route under the Timber Transport Forum. The wood is about a quarter of a mile along a single track, minor public road known as Green Lane/Tunstall Lane.
