As the risk of incidents increases and cost of IT downtime escalates, the importance of effective continuity planning becomes even more critical. Customers, shareholders, and numerous regulatory bodies demand that organisations have plans in place to ensure recovery from any disruption to operations.

Simply having a plan on the shelf is not enough. Organisations today need a plan they can trust, that integrates seamlessly with the business, yet can be easily modified online to accommodate the evolving needs of people and processes.

3

This flexible platform can be customised by adding software modules as continuity management requirements change over time.

All for seamless automation and management of business continuity processes.

Save time with single data entry

BCMprogramme management

SunGard’s Continuity Management Solution (CMS) leverages a common platform that enables data consistency across multiple planning, testing and execution-management processes, as well as standardised reporting.

Beyond the benefits of data integration, CMS provides centralised and secure access to individual modules. This flexible solution can be customised to fit your organisation’s specific needs to support the full lifecycle of business continuity management (BCM). Building on the strength and functionality of the core platform, independent modules can be added over time as the BCM requirements of your company expand or change.

Page 4: SunGard CMS Brochure

Many companies still use word processing software to house and maintain continuity processes. This approach generally can’t meet the stringent requirements for updating and maintaining plans. With specialised planning software, your return on investment (ROI) will not just be considerable savings, but also time and assurance.

Using standard business software to manage your plans may not save you money if you have to pay employees for hours of word processing time that can be accomplished in a fraction of the time with the right planning software. Moreover, BCM software contains expert guides to make sure your plan meets good practice(s) and is done right.

Business continuity plans need to be ‘living’ documents and resources that reflect ongoing changes in the organisations they serve. Real time revisions are best maintained in a relational database with BCM software designed specifically to perform global changes and automate the entire planning process.

4

WHY AUTOMATE CONTINUITY PLANNING?

MyCMS home page includes quick launch icons to licenced products, system messages, and surveys or plans requiring attention

In addition to a relational database, BCM software provides:

Flexibility to customise to the requirements of company standards

Simplicity for the plan development process to integrate with multiple plans

Efficiency for plan maintenance and activation.

Covering business impact analyses, continuity planning, incident response, and emergency notification, the BCM suite of tools are feature-rich, easy to use and implement, web-enabled, and developed by industry experts.

“ I am currently an LDRPS user and it’s truly the best in the market. I’ve evaluated a lot of different products and the whole package is better than any other in the industry. It’s easy to use, includes everything I was looking for, and is priced right.”

financial services technology company

Build and maintain plans with the industry standard: LDRPS®

LDRPS® (Living Disaster Recovery Planning System) provides essential flexibility of plan design, data collection, importing and exporting of data, customisation, report generation, and ongoing plan maintenance. It also guides planners with built-in methodology, while providing ample opportunity to customise continuity programmes to match individual preferences.

As experts in the BCM software industry for over 20 years, we have always created content and good practices that follow our customers’ needs. In LDRPS, we combined our expertise as continuity planning software designers with our consulting proficiency to develop a tool that is easy to implement, and offers familiar point-and-click features. The same simple interface applies to all versions of LDRPS, simplifying user training.

Expert planning partner: The heart of LDRPS is its Plan Navigators – these interfaces are designed to assist users in reaching their planning objectives with step-by-step instruction.

They offer built-in methodology and guidance based on years of research and development, and prompt users to enter the most relevant data to complete their plans. Plan Navigators can be used in their standard form or easily customised to organisational needs.

Planning power and simplicity: Continuity planners have a lot on their plate, so they need software that is easy to understand and use. LDRPS is smartly laid out and specifically designed to follow logical planning steps. With a user-friendly graphical interface, it uses a navigation tree and has a consistent look and feel throughout the screens.

Reporting capabilities: LDRPS provides over 200 standard reports that synthesise critical details about employees, customers and vendors needed in the case of a disruption. And like Navigators, individual users can customise their own Crystal reports.

Intelligent security: LDRPS security options will protect confidential plan information and filter it for your intended audience. Many of the standard security packages and access filters can be customised, enabling plans to keep pace with organisational changes.

Planning scope: LDRPS offers the option to build general plans (e.g., evacuation or crisis management plans), or plans directed to the recovery of core components (processes, applications and hardware).

Map dependencies: LDRPS provides a graphical representation of the relationships between core components, enabling planners to easily identify dependencies within the plan, and across the organisation.

PLANNING AND ANALYSIS

Page 6: SunGard CMS Brochure

Leverage expertly designed surveys to gather plan information using BIA Professional®

A business impact analysis provides a clear view of an organisation’s weaknesses and vulnerabilities. The quality of the survey’s questions, participants, and data dictate the soundness of a business continuity process.

BIA Professional® delivers a focused, detailed picture of financial and operational vulnerabilities, business impacts, and recovery strategies – all protected by powerful security capabilities, on the web.

6

The software helps planners gather the information they need to identify critical business units and processes, the impact of outages over time, and the equipment necessary to recover. This information can be used independently for analysis, or it can be integrated into LDRPS, saving time, and ensuring consistency of data across your entire programme.

A strong start with the right questions: With more than 55 expertly designed questions, standard templates can be used as is or customised.

Intelligent survey control: Question branching guides survey participants to answer only questions that are relevant, while question validation guides recipients to provide necessary information, ensuring the integrity of results.

Analysis and data presentation simplified: The reporting functionality of BIA Professional simplifies analysis and presentation of survey results. Users have more than 150 standard reports to analyse data from multiple angles, or they can build custom reports to dig deeper into specific responses.

PLANNING AND ANALYSIS CONTINUED

“A recent Isurus/DRJ survey found that 72% of respondents cited planning and managing a complete BCM programme as a key challenge.”

Isurus Research/Disaster Recovery Journal (SunGard-sponsored), January, 2009

Identify threats to any location with Risk Assessment

Continuity planning is not only about recovering from disruption – it’s also about providing organisations with the knowledge of what could go wrong and the potential business impact – a requirement of many regulatory bodies worldwide.

The Risk Assessment module enables identification of technical, human, natural, and proximiy risks threatening any location, along with the probability and potential impact of specific risks.

Customise site strategy: Assessment findings account for each location’s vulnerabilities to formulate site-specific planning strategies.

Satisfy regulations: Assessment results serve as a foundation for addressing regulations, such as Bank of England / FSA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and Basel-II.

Make intelligent decisions: A complete report showing the probability and severity of threats at all locations facilitates resource prioritisation. Visual ratings organise all findings based on probability, potential impact, and an overall ‘risk score’ for each location to assist the planning process.

Determine employee readiness with Work Force Assessment

Whether the situation involves the major loss of a facility, the failure of a critical business operation or a widespread event such as a pandemic, a Work Force Assessment helps you evaluate your critical personnel’s ability to respond to disruptions, and use new recovery tools.

Minimise employee record maintenance: Enable employees to verify and update their information online.

Minimise weakness in your BCM: Identify reliances; align corporate policies.

Identify and evaluate critical personnel: Identify employees with high impact rating.

Assess and rate the resiliency of your vendors and supply chain with Vendor Assessment

Organisations recognise their supply chain has become critical to the operation of the business – and it’s no longer acceptable to simply trust that a vendor will be reliable during a disruption. A Vendor Assessment can help evaluate service providers’ or suppliers’ compliance with their continuity requirements.

Minimise vendor record maintenance: Enable vendors to verify and update information online, including contract information.

Minimise weakness in the supply chain: Identify services or suppliers not in compliance.

Centralise and supplement Vendor Management Programme: Collect and store vendor contracts centrally; identify vendors with low resilience and risk.

ASSESSMENT AND SCORING

Work through any disruption you may encounter with Incident Manager® powered by WebEOC®

When a disaster hits, gaining control of the situation is a critical objective on the path to recovery. An organisation’s best bet is an effective Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), which coordinates information arriving by phone, e-mail, news reports, and other sources to help guide recovery efforts.

Instead of a room full of phones and white boards, the ideal method for coordinating emergency response is a virtual EOC, such as Incident Manager® powered by WebEOC®. With the ability to escalate vital issues online, you can track recovery efforts remotely with the only command centre automation software that integrates with LDRPS.

ASSESSMENT AND SCORINGCRISIS MANAGEMENT

Recover using a proven methodology: Incident Manager focuses on life safety, impact assessment, and recovery and restoration. These represent the most important considerations in an emergency – safety of people, status of critical processes, and the ultimate goal of organisational recovery.

Respond faster with smarter resources: Incident Manager offers a series of dashboard screens that display specific information and unfolding events that can be escalated for attention. There are more than 25 standard screens, and users have the option to customise and add more.

Incident display: MapTac™ displays the evolving situation and enables users to ‘publish’ a map, dispersion model, digital photo, floor plan, etc., from any map/GPS source or digital camera. The user can place markers, shapes, and labels on the map from a palette and share it with fellow users instantly through a Web browser. These icons can represent the incident scene, show the location of responding units, identify forces assigned to staging, display roadblocks, etc.

Send and receive alerts and access revovery tools when needed with NotiFind®

A single outbound communication can be effective in many scenarios. But this may not be enough in certain situations, such as a pandemic outbreak that require updates and access to virtualised desktop and telephony tools to be sent at regular intervals to and from people working from home.

NotiFind® is a communication tool that does more than contact people – it gets responses. NotiFind enables users to quickly contact key personnel, deliver critical messages, and receive important data.

Hundreds of thousands of messages can be sent per hour using the latest communication technology. Driven by the infrastructure of Varolii®, NotiFind brings BCM to a new level in more than 180 countries worldwide.

Accurate: better management of communications during a crisis: Features include conference call bridging, providing a direct patch into conference calls; reporting, offering detailed progress reports on issues such as employee safety; and polling to facilitate information gathering.

Timely: Work with real-time data: NotiFind’s Message Centre offers multi-channel inbound and outbound interactive communications with real-time reporting to help shorten or prevent disruptions. A real-time readiness update provides additional protection, allowing employees to communicate vital information from the field.

Available: Provide peace of mind: NotiFind is backed by the Message Trust Guarantee ensuring the notification network is always available, with 99.99% uptime and 99.9% deliverability across the entire network.
