Brothers and sisters, Seed- me is upon us! The last average freeze date for my growing zone is tomorrow, April 4th. We are all presently cooped up in our homes; we have limited opportunies to leave home and earn, play, and socialize. Its an ideal me to exercise both our bodies and our responsibility as stewards of the earth to plant and sow. I invite all of you to garden this year. You may never find a beer me to explore this hobby, and I suspect that some of you will grow to love it as I do. If this present COVID-19 threat passes with no lasng implicaons, your new garden will be a source of pleasure and sasfacon. If things get more difficult in the months ahead, your garden may be called upon to keep your family healthy and well fed. Not all of us have the space to clear a patch of soil to garden, but if you have a yard, please consider turning the soil up and pung in something that you like to eat. If you have children, enlist them to help with the work. The garden is a great way to teach kids where the increase comes from: God. If we plan for the future and do things in the proper way, God rewards our efforts annually. What a lesson to learn when you are young that you might remember all the days of your life! We have many biblical examples of sowing today in order to reap tomorrow. When I teach the para- bles of Jesus, I oſten teach a mini agronomy class beforehand so that city dwellers will comprehend the numerous references to growing, harvesng, and storing that are in Gods word. Many of you are experienced gardeners already; I have seen the fruits of your labors. I would chal- lenge you to explore some advanced concepts this Spring such as straw bale gardening, herb gar- dening, tradional 3 sisters planng, permaculture, heirloom seed saving, and fruit trees (best planted in the Fall in our climate in my experience). Those of you who are new should feel free to reach out to advanced gardeners for advice and assis- tance. I have never met a gardener who would not talk about Gods bounty at any opportunity. Remember, more food from the garden means less trips to the store and more vitamins and miner- als (due to no loss in long-term storage). If everyone plants as they are able this year, we may be able to have some canning workshops this Fall when we are together again in fellowship. Let me know if I can help you get started in gardening this year. Your elders miss you so much, and we pray that you all stay safe and secure in the days ahead. -Devon Presco

Genesis 8:22: “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

I hope you will take comfort, as I do, from God’s promise to us above. Brothers and sisters, Seed-time is upon us! The last average freeze date for my growing zone is tomorrow, April 4th. We are all presently cooped up in our homes; we have limited opportunities to leave home and earn, play, and socialize. It’s an ideal time to exercise both our bodies and our responsibility as stewards of the earth to plant and sow.

I invite all of you to garden this year. You may never find a better time to explore this hobby, and I suspect that some of you will grow to love it as I do. If this present COVID-19 threat passes with no lasting implications, your new garden will be a source of pleasure and satisfaction. If things get more difficult in the months ahead, your garden may be called upon to keep your family healthy and well fed.

Not all of us have the space to clear a patch of soil to garden, but if you have a yard, please consider turning the soil up and putting in something that you like to eat. If you have children, enlist them to help with the work. The garden is a great way to teach kids where the increase comes from: God. If we plan for the future and do things in the proper way, God rewards our efforts annually. What a lesson to learn when you are young that you might remember all the days of your life!
