Bethlehem Steel Company's Torrance works has been hon ored for safely achievements during 10f»0 by the National Safety Council with an award of merit, given in recognition of noteworthy achievements'.

He will direct all mil itary space systems research and development for govern ment-funded study contracts and company-initiated pro grams.

Charles C. Kelber, senior staff engineer in the-Northrop Corporal ion d e v e 1 o p m e nt planning office, has been named supervisor of military space systems at the cpm- pany's Norair Division in Hawthorne.
In his new position, Kelber will direct all military space systems research and devel opment for government-fund ed study contracts and com pany-initiated programs. *

mois in 3947 with a bachelor | of science degree in aeronau tical engineering. • A year later he received a master of science degree in theoretical and applied mechanics from the same university.

Corporation in 19f>7 and served four years as senior staff engineer in corporate development planning, report ing to the office of the pres ident. Me was responsible for coordinating inter-divisional activities in astronautics and nuclear sciences, and -was re sponsible for the technologi cal aspects of product divers ification and planning for corporate financial and cap ital expenditure support.
He is the author of four technical papers on advanced space systems, and is a mem ber of the American Rocket Society. American Astronaut- ieal Society, Institute of Areo- space Sciences, American Ord nance Association, and the Association for Applied Solar Energy.
