BELONGING
We welcome new disciples to our
parish communities. If you live
within our parish boundaries, which
is our mission field, then you are
already a member. It is still
important that you register at the
Parish Oce or during registration
weekends so we can communicate
with you throughout the year. We
are here to help you meet Jesus
Christ, grow in holiness, and fully
participate in a life of prayer.
Please call or stop at either parish
oce, or speak with Fr. Schuster.
We are disciples together!

LITURGY & PRAYER
SUNDAY FAMILY PRAYER SERVICE
Prepare a quiet place that is centered on the crucifix. Consider
arranging a family home “altar” with holy items along with a lit candle.
Begin with the Sign of the Cross: “In the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
Spend a moment acknowledging your sins, and pray:
“I confess to Almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have
done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me
to the Lord our God.”
Read the readings for Mass found in this bulletin.
Invite 3 minutes of silence. Set a stopwatch and see how it feels to sit
together in silence for 3 minutes thinking about the Word of God.
Ask each member of the family to identify a point from the Gospel that
seemed to strengthen them, or “speak” to them. Encourage a discussion
on the readings. Perhaps the father of the family prepares a message for
his family based on the Gospel or one of the readings.
Optional Sharing. “What does it mean to say Jesus is the Truth?” “Is there
a time when you knew the Holy Spirit led you our of a mess?” “How is the
Catholic Church also the Father’s house mentioned by Jesus?”
Recite the Creed (found in this bulletin).
Conduct prayers of petition, ending each one with, “Let us pray to the
Lord.” “Lord, hear our prayer.”
 Recite the “Our Father” together.
Pray slowly the spiritual communion prayer:
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present
in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You
into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually
into my heart.
I embrace You as if
You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be
separated from You. Amen.
Close with a group of devotional prayers, including any of your favorites.
Include the “Year of St. Joseph Prayer” from the bulletin. Use the Mother’s
Day prayer. Now pray the rosary or pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
Good St. Joseph,
As you led the Holy Family,
watch over our families.
Help our family and all families
to know and share God’s love.
In our family relationships, may we
find healing and seek to be holy.
May our fathers help us to become
faithful disciples of Jesus
who share our love for Him.
As foster father of Jesus,
watch over all who serve
as spiritual fathers.
In a special way,
bless our Holy Father,
our Bishop, and our priests.
May they follow your humble example
in their fatherly care
for the people of God, the Church.
With Mary, you raised Jesus
the High Priest.
You know our need for priests.
Please raise up good and holy priests
from our families
to serve the people of our diocese.
May our children and grandchildren
hear and say “yes” to the call of Jesus,
just as you and Mary did.
Good St. Joseph, pray for us.
ST. JOSEPH PRAYER
THIS WEEK’S
CONFESSION TIMES
Sat May 9 3-4pm SM
Fri May 15 12-1pm HT
Sat May 16 3-4pm SM
Act of Contrition:
My God, I am sorry for my sins
with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and
failing to do good,
I have sinned against you,
whom I should love
above all things.
I firmly intend,
with the help of your grace,
to do penance, to sin no more
and to avoid whatever
leads me to sin.
Our Savior, Jesus Christ,
suffered and died for us.
In His Name,
my God, have mercy.
SCRIPTURE READINGS
1 PT 2:4-9
Beloved:
Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings
but chosen and precious in the sight of God,
and, like living stones,
let yourselves be built into a spiritual house
to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
For it says in Scripture:
Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion,
a cornerstone, chosen and precious,
and whoever believes in it shall not be put to shame.
Therefore, its value is for you who have faith,
but for those without faith:
The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,
and
A stone that will make people stumble,
and a rock that will make them fall.
They stumble by disobeying the word, as is their destiny.
You are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people of his own,
so that you may announce the praises” of him
who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Jn 14:1-12
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to
prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again
and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.
Where I am going you know the way.”
Thomas said to him,
“Master, we do not know where you are going;
how can we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him,
“Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father
and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.”
ACTS 6:1-7
As the number of disciples continued to grow,
the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews because
their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution.
So the Twelve called together
the community of the disciples and said,
“It is not right for us to neglect the word of God
to serve at table.
Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men,
filled with the Spirit and wisdom,
whom we shall appoint to this task,
whereas we shall devote ourselves to prayer
and to the ministry of the word.”
The proposal was acceptable to the whole community,
so they chose Stephen,
a man filled with faith and the Holy Spirit,
also Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas,
and Nicholas of Antioch, a convert to Judaism.
They presented these men to the apostles
who prayed and laid hands on them.
The word of God continued to spread,
and the number of the disciples
in Jerusalem increased greatly;
even a large group of priests
were becoming obedient to the faith.
PS 33: 1-2, 4-5, 18-19
Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
Exult, you just, in the LORD;
praise from the upright is fitting.
Give thanks to the LORD on the harp;
with the ten-stringed lyre chant his praises.
Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
Upright is the word of the LORD,
and all his works are trustworthy.
He loves justice and right;
of the kindness of the LORD the earth is full.
Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
See, the eyes of the LORD are upon those who fear him,
upon those who hope for his kindness,
To deliver them from death
and preserve them in spite of famine.
Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
“Am I not here, your Mother?
Are you not under my
protection? Am I not your
health? Are you not happily
within my fold? What else do
you wish? Do not grieve nor be
disturbed by anything.”

Annual Novena Prayers to St. Isidore the Farmer posted daily at noon on our Facebook pages until Friday, May
15th.
Blessing of the Seeds: 9:00am, Saturday, May 16th: drive-up style prayer service and blessing at 9:00am sharp
in the St. Mary Parish parking lot. Bring some seeds from your home or farm. Bring your faith and ask the Good
God to bless the farmers, the fields, and the harvest for this year.
There has been a lot of talk by political leaders about how science is going to lead us out of this COVID-19
pandemic. I even saw commercials where people were thanking “science” in the same way that they were
thanking healthcare works. One politician actually wagged her finger at the TV camera and screamed the
word “science” three times while criticizing people who were praying. Allow me to make a few points:
God invented or created science as part of the design of this universe.
The Church has never been against science, nor have we ever formally believed that faith and science
were opposites, or were in opposition to each other.
The Church acknowledges as a revealed Truth that we, humans, are highly intelligent (made in the
image and according to the likeness of God) and that our freedom can be used for good or evil.
People working with science have an ethical obligation to serve the common good of humanity as God
reveals it, not as we define it. This means that we need to use science for causes that are morally
acceptable. To find out what is morally acceptable, we turn to the Scriptures, the revealed Tradition of
the Church, the magisterium, and the meaning of the human person imprinted in our physical bodies.
Christians who pray for an end to this “time of pestilence” are not stupid, uneducated, superstitious
people who are rejecting reason and science.
We need to learn from God’s science and acknowledge that there are real threats to people’s health as
we re-open the church; even when handling sacred items and doing sacred things. Viruses still spread
at Church. We cannot be selfish and put our own wants in front of other people’s health and safety.
PRAYER FOR A
DECEASED MOTHER
O God,
who hast commanded us
to honor our mother,
in Thy mercy have pity
on the souls of my mother,
and forgive her
her trespasses,
and make me to see her again
in the joy of
everlasting brightness.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Happy Mother's Day from the
Wisconsin Right to Life,
Kewaunee County Chapter.
We are grateful for your annual support on
Mother's Day when we usually sell roses.
“The Most Important Person on earth is a
mother. She cannot claim the honor of
having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She
need not. She has built something more
magnificent than any cathedral -a
dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny
perfection of her baby’s body. . . The
angels have not been blessed with such a
grace. They cannot share in God’s
creative miracle to bring new saints to
Heaven. Only a human mother can.
Mothers are closer to God the Creator
than any other creature; God joins forces
with mothers in performing this act of
creation. .. What on God’s good earth is
more glorious than this: to be a mother?”
~ Venerable Jozsef Cardinal Mindszenty
Remember to do something special for all the
mothers in your life! May you all be blessed
during this challenging time.
