From the Pastor:

Dear Parish Family,

Today we will celebrate our third celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation this week with over 150 high school students. Archbishop Hartmayer will confirm those celebrating today, marking them with Sacred Chrism and completing their Sacraments of Initiation. Please keep these young people in your prayers, that they embrace the outpouring of grace and gifts of the Holy Spirit they receive today. Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Piety, Knowledge and Fear of the Lord are valuable sources of grace and guidance as they move forward in their faith journey.

Mother’s Day is coming on May 9th. As you look for ways to honor your Mom, and all those who have served in that capacity for you, I invite you to include them in our parish Novena of Masses. When you register them for the Novena, you will also have access to a special giftable certificate that you can send, letting them know how much you appreciate them. Information on how to include their names, request a special giftable certificate, and to make a donation is on our Parish Website. See you at Mass (in person or live-streamed),

Sign up for the next MEN’S CRHP WEEKEND

August 21 & 22, 2021 Take a short break from the routine and be renewed!

“I am writing this because I want to remind you of the great future God has for you. I know this because He said so. He says you have not seen, nor heard, nor even imagined anything as great as what He has prepared for you. And, for me, it all started with Christ Renews His Parish. It was a life-changing experience. The way I feel and think about myself and others now is 1000 times better. I’m a radically different person because I met Jesus one weekend through faith-filled men. I am grateful beyond words for that experience. Consider joining us for a weekend that hopefully will affect your life as positively as it has mine.”

— Bill Johnston

Pope Francis Prayer Intention

Come Further Up, Further In! A series by Deacon Mike Bickerstaff Be a Witness for Christ Do you know that you are called to be a witness for Christ? When I was growing up in the southern part of the United States, from time to time I would encounter young, protestant teens and adults who would excitedly take to the streets to witness for Christ. That is how they would refer to their efforts to evangelize. “Let‘s go witness!” They were an inspiration to me. Our Lord tells His apostles in today’s gospel (Luke 24:35-48) that they are to be His witnesses. The scene begins with the return of the two disciples who encountered Christ on the road to Emmaus and came to recognize Him in the breaking of the bread. Their hearts burned within them and their joy was so great that they had to rush back to Jerusalem to share the good news of the Risen Jesus with the apostles. The Lord also calls us today to be His witnesses. Not just priests, deacons and religious, but everyone who has come to believe in Him and the Resurrection. Each of us first came to believe because of the testimony of a witness. Throughout the history of the Church, from age to age, from one generation to the next, there have always been people with a generosity of spirit that has led them to set aside everything to be witnesses for Christ; not the least of whom for us have been our parents. Witnessing for Christ begins in the home, in the midst of the family. Being a witness for Christ is part of our baptismal obligation. Jesus wants us to be a mission people; He wants us to be zealous about sharing the good news of our Redemption and God’s love for us. Let us resolve this Easter season to be like the two disciples on the road to Emmaus who could not contain their joy… let us too, take to the streets to be witnesses for Christ… ministering to the spiritual and corporal needs of God’s people. Amen!

Fundamental Rights. We pray for those who risk their lives while fighting for fundamental rights under dictatorships, authoritarian regimes and even in democracies in crisis.

Adult Sacraments?

“Our hearts are restless until they rest in You, O Lord” St. Augustine

Are you uncertain about taking steps on a path

that leads to Sacraments? Wondering what that

path might look like for you? We invite you to

a conversation regarding the RCIA process,

where adults grow in their knowledge and

understanding of God and discern Sacraments.

God calls each one of us to a deeper

relationship with Him, and often times our

response to His call is recognized as a yearning

in our hearts, or as St. Augustine states, a

restless heart. God will lead you to the peace

and joy you are seeking. Let us know how we

can help!

FAITH FORMATION for FAMILIES

Third Sunday of Easter

Jesus appears again to his disciples and shares a meal with them. Luke 24:35-48

Family life is strengthened through storytelling and shared meal times. In a similar way, Christian life is sustained by

God’s word in Scripture and by Christ’s presence in the Eucharist. We are especially sustained in our faith through our

weekly celebration of Mass. Today’s Gospel reading reminds us that the Scripture and the Eucharist are given to us so

that our acts of bearing witness to Christ might be strengthened.

As you gather as a family, ask each person to share their favorite story about your family. Talk about the importance

of these memories about your family life and the importance of the meals you have shared together as a family. Recall

that these stories and meals strengthen the love you share. In a similar way, our Christian life is strengthened by

sharing God’s Word and the Eucharist at Mass. Read together today’s Gospel, Luke 24:35-48. Discuss the mission that

Jesus gave to his disciples after their shared meal. The Eucharist also sends us to be Christ’s witnesses in the world

today. Conclude by praying together that we will be strengthened by God’s word

and by Jesus’ presence in the Eucharist to be witnesses to Christ.

Pray together Tantum Ergo or today’s psalm, Psalm 4.

Reflection shared from the Loyola Press Sunday Connection Families, remember to open the Live Binder for this weeks reflections and submission.

April 18, 2021 3rd Sunday of Easter “Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ But they were startled and frightened…” - Luke 24:36-37 Throughout the day we have many opportunities to “see the face of Jesus” in others and to “be the face of Jesus” to others. Do we take that opportunity to provide “peace” to those we encounter or are we afraid of what others will think of us and do nothing? Pray for the strength and courage to live a “God-centered” life and not a “self-centered” life.
