Music is always a medium that is able to transport us to other places and times. We all know how that goes. We're driving down the road and a tune comes on the radio and all of a sudden we're in high school or college re- membering people and experiences we have had. Maybe we hear a song and we go back to a particular place that we associate with the first time we heard that song. Music is a powerful object in our lives. It was Mac Davis who wrote “music is a universal language". Those are true and good words. But what we experienced Thursday evening in our sanctuary was something more than a memory or a fond remembrance. See, sometimes music lifts us and takes us beyond what we can envision, beyond our human imagination. When that happens music is not merely transporting us, it is transforming us and creating gifts of God's Spirit alive and moving in us. Celebrating God's love and presence through music is a wonderful experi- ence. Our guests, Vocal Authority, served us and God well Thursday evening. Don't be too upset if you missed that performance. You'll have another chance on Sun- day night. It won't be Vocal Authority. They are working their way back toward McKenzie, TN. Sunday night we will join in worship with the youth from the Dyersburg CP Church. Their individual and collective talents will be used to reveal different ways that God is at work to proclaim the kingdom. We look forward to what God will show us and what we will experience through music again. Perhaps it will transport us and, even more, transform us as we are taken to places beyond our imagination. I hope to see you Sunday evening at 5: 00 PM for our fellowship meal with the Dyers- burg folks and then at 6:30 PM for our worship service. Grace and peace,

If you missed the worship service with Vocal Authority from Bethel University on

Thursday night then you truly missed a blessing. Music is always a medium that is able to

transport us to other places and times. We all know how that goes. We're driving down the

road and a tune comes on the radio and all of a sudden we're in high school or college re-

membering people and experiences we have had. Maybe we hear a song and we go back

to a particular place that we associate with the first time we heard that song. Music is a

powerful object in our lives. It was Mac Davis who wrote “music is a universal language".

Those are true and good words.

But what we experienced Thursday evening in our sanctuary was something more than

a memory or a fond remembrance. See, sometimes music lifts us and takes us beyond

what we can envision, beyond our human imagination. When that happens music is not

merely transporting us, it is transforming us and creating gifts of God's Spirit alive and

moving in us. Celebrating God's love and presence through music is a wonderful experi-

ence. Our guests, Vocal Authority, served us and God well Thursday evening.

Don't be too upset if you missed that performance. You'll have another chance on Sun-

day night. It won't be Vocal Authority. They are working their way back toward

McKenzie, TN. Sunday night we will join in worship with the youth from the Dyersburg

CP Church. Their individual and collective talents will be used to reveal different ways

that God is at work to proclaim the kingdom. We look forward to what God will show us

and what we will experience through music again. Perhaps it will transport us and, even

more, transform us as we are taken to places beyond our imagination.

I hope to see you Sunday evening at 5: 00 PM for our fellowship meal with the Dyers-

burg folks and then at 6:30 PM for our worship service.

Grace and peace,

We will have a fellowship meal (not pot-

luck ) with the choir before the perform-

ance.
