Readers are requested to verify the contents on their own before acting there upon.” STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh on Saturday announced inclu- sion of Kehli Mandi, Arazi Samba, Thalora, Pushwalian, Garh, Dansal, Ramnagar, Rakh Watali and other Mandis of district Samba in Municipality Committee Samba. The Deputy Chief Minister announced this during a meeting held here today to review the performance of Urban Local Bodies. He said the objective of including these Mandis in Municipality is to equip these areas with all requisite facilities to keep pace with the changing trends in urban infrastructure. "Effective management and coordination among all stake- holders of municipalities can greatly help in transformation of their local areas into a bet- ter place to live", the Deputy Chief Minister maintained. Nirmal Singh, while compli- menting the people, announced Rs 50 lakh for up gradation of these newly included municipal areas and Rs 25 lakh for other munici- palities. Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash, besides MLAs, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal and Kuldeep Raj, Commissioner/Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Hirdesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda, Director ULB's Soujanya Sharma, SSP, Joginder Singh ADDC Vivek Sharma, ADC Tilak Raj Sharma and EO's from Municipalities were also pres- ent in the meeting. The Dy CM took a detailed review of physical and finan- cial targets achieved for the year 2015-16 and 2016-17. He was informed that Rs. 26.29 lakh have been ear- marked under district plan and Rs 68.94 lakh under Integrated Development of Small and Medium Town scheme for the year 2016-17. Besides, site for Waste Management plant has been identified by the district administration and Detailed Project Report has been pre- pared in this regard. The Dy CM asked the offi- cers to work with utmost devotion and determination to ensure that the govern- ment schemes are implement- ed in an effective manner. "The objective of the present dispensation is to ensure that the people especially those residing in far off parts get better basic amenities that too in a hassle free manner", he added. The Industries Minister emphasized special focus on development of Ramgarh Municipal area and creation of parking facilities in Samba District. He said that with the inclusion of these Mandi's in Municipal limits would fur- ther add to development of these areas. He called for maintaining high quality work standards besides strict adherence to timeline while executing works. The Legislators also spoke on occasion and projected demands of their respective areas seeking an early redres- sal to the same. The Dy CM assured the MLAs that all issues raised by them would be looked into for consideration and thus an early redressal. MLA Samba demanded upgradation of bathing ghats at Hari Singh Chowk and completion of community centre at Chak Mangla while MLA Hiranagar called for inclusion of Rajpura and Ghagwal in Municipal areas. Commissioner / Secretary informed that Samba town has been selected to be cov- ered under the scheme ' Housing for All' phase-I, for which, DPR has been submit- ted to the concerned. The conference was parti- tionedin to two main events - a written competition held in three phases on 18th (for School students), 19th (for post graduate students), and 20th of January, 2017 (for undergraduate stu- dents) and presentations, held on 20th of January, 2017, highlighting applica- tions of Mathematics to other areas such as Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social Sciences etc. Dr. Zaheer Abbas, Head of the Department, presented welcome address and said that the purpose of such conference is two-fold- on one hand it offers a plat- form to the young and tal- ented boys and girls of the region to share their knowl- edge with each other through presentations, and on the other hand it pro- vides them an opportunity to test themselves of their standings with respect to the general mathematical knowledge that they pos- sess, by participating in the written competition. He thanked the teachers of various schools and colleges who worked very hard in making their students pre- pared for written competi- tion as well as for wonderful presentations leaving behind the hurdles posed by the chilly weather. In his message Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Javed Musarrat, said that mathe- matics is an extremely important subject and has great influence over the society through the science and technology and encour- aged the school and college students to take mathemat- ics as their career subject. SPCB seizes 15 kg polythene bags STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: In an anti-poly- thene drive conducted by a joint team of State Pollution Control Board and Forest Protection Force, 15 kg of polythene carry bags was seized on Saturday from the shops in different markets of Kathua town. The shop- keepers were warned to desist from the use of the polythene carry bags as the manufacture, use and sale of the same has been banned under J and K Non- Biodegradable Act , 2007. The general public was also made aware about the dam- aging impact of use of poly- thene on environment, human health and animal life. The farmers/fruit growers were imparted training on propa- gation techniques of horticul- tural crops, scientific orchard management and canopy management. The District Level Subject Matter Specialist (Pomology) Jyoti Parshad, Horticulture Development Officer, Barnoti Sandeep Gupta besides oth- ers were present on the occa- sion. Jyoti Parshad while interacting with the trainees educated them about the var- ious scientific techniques presently used for the propa- gation of fruit plants with special emphasis on sub-trop- ical fruit plants like mango, citrus, guava and litchi. Leopard kills 12-year-old boy STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: In a shocking incident at village Nalwa in Ghat Tehsil of District Doda, a leopard killed 12-year-old boy on Friday late night and also devoured a portion of his body till family members could trace him. According to reports, Sahil Ahmed (12) son of Ghulam Mohd had gone to toilet near his house at village Nalwa last night when a leopard attacked and completely mauled him. The incident took place on Friday night when the victim had reportedly gone to answer nature's call and the twelve- year-old could hardly put any resistance. When connected SHO Doda Uday Wazir said that when Sahil, didn't return home till late in the night for dinner, a search operation was started by his parents and the body was recovered from the forest near their house where the leopard had already eaten a portion of the neck and abdomen. He added that due to heavy snowfall, several wild animals especially leopards have ascended towards villages near forest in search of food. Leopard kills 12-year-old boy STATE TIMES NEWS

BHADARWAH: In a shocking incident at village Nalwa inGhat Tehsil of District Doda, a leopard killed 12-year-old boyon Friday late night and also devoured a portion of his bodytill family members could trace him.

According to reports, Sahil Ahmed (12) son of GhulamMohd had gone to toilet near his house at village Nalwa lastnight when a leopard attacked and completely mauled him.

The incident took place on Friday night when the victimhad reportedly gone to answer nature's call and the twelve-year-old could hardly put any resistance.

When connected SHO Doda Uday Wazir said that whenSahil, didn't return home till late in the night for dinner, asearch operation was started by his parents and the body wasrecovered from the forest near their house where the leopardhad already eaten a portion of the neck and abdomen.

He added that due to heavy snowfall, several wild animalsespecially leopards have ascended towards villages near forestin search of food.

On the basis of a complaint received from the parents of aminor girl, who was allegedly raped by one Baljeet Singh sonof Sadhu Singh resident of Mahore the SHO Reasi had regis-tered an FIR 10/2017 under section 376/452 RPC.

A police team was constituted in this case which finallynabbed the accused Baljeet Singh on Saturday and furtherinvestigation is on.
