PASTOR’S COLUMN
New Schedule for the Saint Agnes Chamber Choir
The Church of Saint Agnes is blessed to have many musi-cians and choirs to uphold the wonderful tradition of Catho-lic sacred music here in the parish. We reap the benefit of their tireless efforts to elevate the beauty and solemnity of the Mass each weekend. One of these choirs is our Chamber Choir, directed by Mrs. Donna May. The Chamber Choir recently completed their 2017 season at last weekend's Satur-day evening Mass.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Chamber Choir, they sing a beautiful repertoire of Renaissance Masses and polyphonic motets. Since 1993, the Chamber Choir has sung for the Ordinary Form Latin Anticipatory Mass on the first Saturday evening of each month October through June. They have also sung during the Good Friday liturgy and at the Easter Vigil.
My thanks and appreciation go out to this dedicated group of singers who strive to keep alive these beautiful High Renais-sance Masses. We are truly blessed to have the opportunity to hear this music in our parish.
At this time, I would like to announce a change to the Cham-ber Choir schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 season. In an effort to create some consistency in which Masses are in Eng-lish and which Masses are in Latin, each Saturday evening anticipatory Mass will be in English. The single exception to this will be the Easter Vigil which is an OF Latin Mass.
Therefore, I have asked the Chamber Choir to change their schedule to sing for a selection of 10:00 am Sunday Masses and 5:15 pm Masses on Holy Days. I have published their upcoming 2017-18 schedule below for your reference.
For those interested in joining the Chamber Choir, please contact the parish office for more information.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. Mark Moriarty

CHORALE & ORCHESTRA NOTES
W. A. Mozart, Trinitatis, K 167 (1773)
W.A. Mozart (1765-1791) composed the Trinitatis Mass at age 17. He dated it June of 1773 and possibly intended it for Trinity Sun-day at Salzburg’s beautiful Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Trinity Church). The Trinitatis Mass is orchestrated as a missa solemnis but without vocal solo arias; in any case, listen for the trumpets and the showy contrapuntal fugue in the final section of the Credo. The Twin Cities Catholic Chorale is a non-profit corporation, which depends solely on the generosity of its patrons. Programs are posted at www.catholicchorale.org. Next Sunday the Chorale & Orchestra will present Franz Schubert’s Mass in G.
