Advent - It is time to get ready. Let’s hit the season of
Advent with both feet on the ground, ready to run.
Advent is such a busy time for all of us. Before you
know it, Christmas will be upon us. And so, it is
important that we plan to do something special to get
ready to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. If
you can, why not attend daily mass throughout the
week, if you don’t already do so. Maybe pray a
rosary at home, or stop into the church to make a
private visit. Use the sacrament of reconciliation. Do
some spiritual reading. Make this season of
Advent a special time for you so that when Christ
comes, He will find a peaceful, welcoming soul.
Casino Trip - The Holy Trinity Men's Club is
sponsoring a trip to the Rivers Casino on Tuesday,
December 3, 2019. This is the last trip till
spring. Call George Miteff for details at 412-466-
5062.
Help Wanted - Resurrection Church will be cleaned
on Wednesday, December 4th after the 8:15 a.m.
Mass. In case of a funeral Mass, we will begin at a
later time. Cleaning supplies will be provided. If you
can spare a few hours from your busy schedule, its
most appreciated. A sign-up sheet will be available in
the back of the church. Hope to see you there!
Advent Lecture Series - Our Advent Lecture Series
begins on Wednesday, December 4th at 11:00 a.m. at
St. Max. Our speaker this week will be Father Mike.
A light lunch will be served after the lecture. We hope
to see you there.
Blessed Sacrament - The Blessed Sacrament is
exposed every Friday from noon until 4:00 p.m. in
St. Max Day Chapel. Please stop in and make a visit.
Fish Fry - The Fish Fry will be open on Friday,
December 6th from 11:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. We
offer baked and fried fish, shrimp, chicken planks,
macaroni and cheese, haluski, potato pancakes and
pizza. In addition to our usual menu items, our
special will be stuffed pork chop with mashed potato
and vegetable. Eat in or take out. To reach our
kitchen, please call 412-462-1743.

Thanksgiving weekend) and December 15th from
9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
Baptismal Seminar - will be held on Monday,
December 9th at 7:00 p.m. in St. Therese Rectory

where you would like the candle to be lit.

the Light of the World will be held on Monday,

education on Sundays, there is not an opportunity for the
priests to celebrate this sacrament with our
children. Everyone in the family is invited to participate
and receive God’s love and mercy.

Bereavement Support Sessions
You are not alone. We invite you to be part of a circle
where we hope you find space to grieve, to search, to
listen and to reach out. Our Grief Support sessions are
an opportunity to share with people who also struggle
and hurt, who have tears on their hands and pain in
their hearts. Although you are deeply wounded, let us
find comfort and healing in what we believe and in our
ability to care for each other. Bereavement Support
Sessions will be held from 6:30—8:00 PM at Resur-
rection Parish. We will begin with a light dinner at
6:30 PM. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays:

March 4 & 18 - April 1 & 15
Please call St. Therese Rectory at 412-462-8161 or
e-mail [email protected] to RSVP.
These sessions are independent of each other so you
may join us as often as your schedule allows. Support
Sessions are organized and led by parish staff and
volunteers. We strive to bring the healing presence of
Jesus Christ to all those in need. All are welcome!
Envelopes - You may have noticed that your envelope
packets were only for the month of December.
Beginning in January 2020, all church envelopes will be
coming from Church Budget. Your envelope will read
“Grouping 229.” Each church will have a different color
border and the name of the church will still be printed on
it, so that the funds remain in our eight different parishes
until the end of June 2020.
Christmas Flowers - In your packet of envelopes you
received a flower fund donation envelope. All donations
of $10 or more will be published in the Christmas
bulletin in honor of or in memory of a loved one.

many of our parishioners can make ends meet, but
at Christmas need a little help. All information is
confidential. If you have someone you would like
to nominate, are in need or want to share, please
call Lori at 412-462-8161 or e-mail to lellis@st-
therese.net. Thank you for your generosity.

the light of the world to be born, sign up to light the

Masses. Please call the parish office where you
wish to light the wreath.
Advent Lecture Series will be held on December
4, 11, 18 at 11:00 AM in St. Max Church. All are

Holiday Reachout Ministries
Monetary Reachout - Help a needy family by
making a monetary or food store gift card donation.
Mark an envelope "Reachout" and drop it in the
collection basket or send it to the rectory.
Homebound and Shut-in Reachout - We are in
the process of updating a list of parishioners
from all parishes who are homebound, in nursing
homes or hospitals, or no longer able to get to
church. The list will be available at the beginning
of Advent so anyone who wishes to reach out to
them can send a card or a letter during the holi-
day season. We need your help so that people
don’t get lost in the mix of things. We are begin-
ning with a clean slate, so don’t just assume what
was will be. If you know someone who should
be on this list, please call the parish office at
CLW, Holy Trinity, Resurrection, St. Max or St.
Therese. Any parishioner who would like a copy
of the homebound and shut-ins, please call your
parish office.

Monday, December 2... No School, Thanksgiving Break
Tuesday, December 3... Classes resume after Thanksgiving Break
Friday, December 6... Students attend 8:15AM Mass
Interim Progress Reports Issued
There is no school this Monday, December 2 as Thanksgiving Break continues for Saint
Therese School students and staff! Classes resume and the office reopens on Tuesday,
December 3.
We are now in the Season of Advent. The first day of each week during Advent, the
students from each department (K-2, 3-5 and 6-8) will gather to light the Advent wreath
and pray together for the coming of our Lord. Come, Lord Jesus!
This year St. Therese School will participate in McKeesport’s 34th annual Festival of
Trees in Renzi Park from Thursday, December 5 through Monday December 9 from 12:00
noon until 9:00 p.m. This festival can lighten your spirits and brighten your holidays so
be sure to stop by and visit. Schools, businesses , organizations and local municipalities
are invited to decorate a theme-decorated tree. Our school’s theme is St. Therese, the
Little Flower. The students created ornaments reflecting St. Therese in art class under the
direction of Ms. Martin.
For the visitors Sleighay Rides are offered around the park with stops at the Heritage
Center and Garden Club. Santa will be on hand for a visit, a photo opportunity and kids
will be given the opportunity to drop a letter to Santa. There will be a Scavenger Hunt for
the kids searching for a special ornament on each of the trees, along with food and enter-
tainment.
This is an indoor event except for the Sleighay Ride with close to 100 trees on display.
We are so proud of our Preschoolers! They've completed their first Preschool Service
Project. Thanks to the generosity of their families, the 3 and 4 year old Preschool children
collected enough personal care items to fill 50+ gift bags for the patients at Veteran's
Hospital. Between Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving, we can't think of a better
time to show our love and appreciation to our heroes. The children included hand
made cards in each bag and we prayed for the brave men and women who have
served our country. Thank you to Denise McCullough, a long-time nurse at the
VA Hospital, for delivering the gift bags.
Grouping 229 Angel Trees

to assist single parent families toward self-sufficiency by providing housing, life-skills training, and career develop-
ment. They are requesting household items and Gift Cards to Giant Eagle or Wal-Mart. The case managers greatly
appreciate the gift cards because they are used to help families learn wise shopping decisions. All items and gift
cards can be dropped off at the church through December 8th.
