Memory Verse: Romans 1:16 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Going Deeper The purpose of this page is to provide a tool or instrument for your spiritual growth. This page contains a brief synopsis of the readings as well as some questions for your reflection to help you go deeper with the Word. On the back is a day by day listing of scripture readings with possible prayer request. Individuals are listed on their day of birthso that you might pray for them on their birthday. Also on the back is the prayer list for the congregation. Keep on Growing Spiritually!!

    Readings for the Day:

Romans 1:1-17: Most of the Christians in Rome do not know Paul. In this letters opening he introduces himself as an apostle divinely appointed to spread Gods gospel. The gospels content is the promised coming of Christ, and Pauls mission is to bring about the obedience of faith among all nations, including his Roman audience..

Matthew 9:9-13: Jesus demonstrates Gods mercy and power, accepting the unacceptable. This is shown in the calling of the tax collector, Matthew as an apostle.

Questions To Ponder: 1Who is Paul? 2What was the controversy about Paul calling himself an apostle? 3What is the purpose for Paul writing letters like Romans? 4What does it mean when Paul says, I am not ashamed of the gospel? 5What does it mean when Paul says The one who is righteous will live by faith? 6How does this text relate to confirmation? 7How does this text speak to you today?
