Congress MP Karan Singhtoday said citizens were aware ofthe fundamental rights enshrinedin the Constitution but were notconscious of their duties andresponsibilities towards society.
Singh said it comes fromeducation which dispels igno-rance, transmits knowledge andliberates the mind.
He was delivering the sec-ond memorial lecture in honourof former Union minister ArjunSingh at the Nehru MemorialMuseum Auditorium here.
Singh spoke about 'Four pil-
lars of learning'--learning toknow, to do, to live together andto be.
He termed the second pillar--learning to do--as 'karma yog'.He said there was severe mis-match between education andthe capacity to do and stressedon revisiting the Indian educa-tion system and setting up ofITI's for providing skill trainingto empower the youth.
Singh said all religionsshould be adopted and respect-ed.(PTI)

DPS Jammu held its 19th Investiture Ceremony "Sankalp Se Netratv Ki Aur" with great zeal andenthusiasm on 26th August, 2017 in the school premises. Sh. Dilbagh Singh, DGP, J&K was theChief Guest for the event, while the guests of honour were Md. Yasin Chaudhary, IAS and AssttSecretary, Ministry of Renewable Energy, Govt of India, New Delhi (School Alumni), Sh. KuldeepSingh, President, J&K Rifle Association and Dr. Kirti Bhushan Sharma Medical Superintendent,Jammu. The event commenced with the Ganesha Vandana, a scintillating Bharatnatyam performance,
by the girls of classes VIII & IX which was followed by the decoration ceremony, wherein the dis-tinguished guests conferred ceremonial sashes and badges upon the newly inducted student cab-inet -2017-18 and also honoured the school alumni for their achievements and keeping theschool flag high.The welcome address was delivered by the Principal DPS Jammu, Ms Ruchi Chabra, who also
administered the oath to the school cabinet, which was followed by the address by the Headboy-Rajshri and the Head Girl- Rajnandini.Thereafter, the students mesmerized the audience with a presentation of a Sufi song and the
DPS song, which won the standing ovation from the audience.Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the school staff for making a
mark in J&K and all over India, for quality education. He also recalled some of his personal lifeexperiences, that motivated the audience deeply.The Guest of Honour, Md. Yasin Chaudhary, IAS, recollected his days spent in his alma matter
and attributed his success to the school. He also shared many useful tips on leading a successfullife with the newly inducted school cabinet. This was followed by the memento felicitation cere-mony to the Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour.The vote of thanks was delivered by Sh. S. S. Sodhi, Director, DPS Jammu, who highlighted the
role of the DPS Society and particularly, of the parents, in the growth of their children.
