EASTER JOY: As we celebrate the Resurrection, we give thanks for the life of Christ through His death on the Cross. We give thanks to all those who have added life to

our days of Lent. Special thanks to those who attended the sacraments and the sacramental celebration of the Stations of the Cross. Thank you to those who lead us in song and to those who volunteered with the ministries during Holy Week. Thank you to those who donated to the Easter Memorials, the Rice Bowl, and the Holy Land Collection. With the reassurance of new life in faith through the Resurrection of Jesus, may each of you receive and share the joys of Easter. Faith Formation News Grs. K-12 Faith Formation classes as usual this Wednesday, April 6.

There is still room on the bus for the Year of Mercy Bus Pilgrimage to the Cathedral of St. Joseph this Wednesday, April 6. Participants will have the opportunity to enter through the Holy Door and pray the 11:30am Rosary before the noon Mass at the Cathedral. Lunch will follow (TBA). We have reserved a bus which will depart at 10:00am from the Holy Family parking lot and will return late afternoon (4:30-5:00pm). The cost to ride the bus is $10 per person. Plan to bring money for lunch. To sign up, contact Christine in the Faith Formation Office, 996-3842, by noon this Tuesday, April 5. There are about 15 spots left. Let’s fill the bus!

On Sunday, April 3, the Knights of Columbus are inducting new members into their Council when they host their Degree Exemplification starting at 11:00 AM at John Paul II School. They extend a personal invitation to all men age 18 and older who are practicing Catholics

All ladies of the parish are members of the Altar Society. The $10 Altar Society dues are collected in April. If you have an offering envelope packet, the Special Offering envelope is located between April 3 & 10. Otherwise, just use an envelope and write “Altar Society” on the outside, put your name and check or cash inside, and place it in the weekend collection basket. Thank you for your continued support of this very important ministry.

April is Holy Spirit’s designated month to

collect items for the Food Pantry. Place your donations under the small table next to the

Secretary Office door. Please make sure your donated items have not expired (or they have to be

thrown away) and mark out the UPC code if possible. Thank You!

John Paul II School News Robin Cahoy, Principal — 996-2365 We would like to extend a very special congratulations to our second grade class. What a very special weekend you will be having as you receive the Sacrament of First

Holy Communion. Congratulations to all of you and know you will be in our thoughts and prayers as you receive the Body and Blood of Jesus for the first time. A special thanks to parents and Mrs. Lynn Yahne who prepared the students for this sacrament. We are excited to have the Mitchell High School Friend de Coup Show Choir perform for us in the MPR on April 4 at 12:20pm. What a wonderful example of musical talent to expose our students to. Our 3–6th grade students will begin to take the annual Smarter Balanced Assessments this week. The testing will continue throughout the month of April. It is very important that your student has a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast before coming to school on testing days. Be sure to check out the classroom newsletter for more information on testing dates. We will have Snack Shack on Wednesday, April 6. Students have done very well giving up the extra snacks from the Snack Shack during Lent; however, they will be happy to have it back again this week. Our 5–6th grade will participate in the Modern Woodmen Speech Contest this week. The topic for their speech this year is: Hunger in America. The students will present their speeches to three judges in the Art and Science Room. If you would like to listen to the speeches, please contact the teachers or the office for the schedule. Our 6H/4H/KM classes will plan the school Mass for this week. We would like you to join us and celebrate the Mass with us at 9:00am on Friday, April 8.

Sacred Relics Of The Saints: Treasures Of The Church Holy Spirit Parish presents a teaching and

exposition of Sacred Relics on Thursday,

April 21, at 7pm. Father Carlos Martins

of the Companions of the Cross will be here with his very special

ministry to teach about these holy objects. He will bring over 150

relics, some as old as 2000 years. Among the treasures will be

relics of St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the “Little

Flower"), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas

Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. In addition, there will also be

present a portion of the veil of Our Lady, as well as one of the

largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world. Those in

attendance will be able to examine and venerate each relic. In the

Church’s history many miracles and healings have been worked in

the presence of relics, and many have been healed through this

ministry. Please do not miss this opportunity. You are encouraged

to bring your articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.)

and pictures of ill friends/family members which you will be able

to touch to the reliquaries as a means of intercession.
