Message from the Co-Chairpersons Dear Christian Friends, On behalf of the entire 48h Laity Day Committee, we would like to wel-come you to Mount Carmel Baptist Church, and to celebrate the “Laity” of our church. We welcome to our pulpit this morning Reverend Dr. Steven Blunt, Pastor of the First Baptist Church Mahan Street, Suffolk, VA. Reverend Blunt is no stranger to Mount Carmel, he preached Pastor Moore’s second anniversary and we thank him for his gracious acceptance to come and bring God’s word to us this morning. A special thank you goes to Pastor Donald D. Moore for his support and guidance. We would also like to thank all the ministries that are participat-ing in this special day. Most of all we thank the 48th Laity Day Committee for your diligence this year and heeding God’s call to celebrate and recognize the ‘Laity” of our church. This morning again we will be recognizing all the members of Mount Car-mel. You will be recognized by the color you are wearing today which rep-resents 0-50+ years of membership and service at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. This spirit filled day will not end with the morning service. This afternoon we will be blessed again. We will be making a “Joyful noise unto the Lord’ with “An Afternoon of Songs” composed by Carol Antrom and rendered by The Fellowship Choir. The concert will begin at 5PM. Please plan to attend. May God continue to bless each and every one of you in the future. We pray that something that you see and hear today will draw you closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and help you to understand the im-portance of “Laity” and their work in this church. To God Be The Glory, Great Things He Hath Done! Yours in Christ, Deaconess Roquetta Reed and Deaconess Brenda Austin, Co-Chairpersons
Message from the Pastor
Mount Carmel, five years ago God gifted me with an opportunity
which exceeded anything I could have imagined. And for five years
as Pastor and people, we have grown in ways making it possible for
us to continue the legacy of being “the hearts and hands of West
Philadelphia”.
As a result of our continued commitment, today we proudly cele-
brate our 48th Annual Laity Day. Though this formal day of acknowl-
edgment of the service of laypersons was initiated just 48 years ago,
the reality is that for all of our 137 years it has been the faithfulness of
God made manifest in the commitment of lay men and women that
has made Mount Carmel a citadel of faith in Philadelphia. Meeting
the needs of the community and our members would be a far more
daunting task were it not for the devoted service you all give. I often
say without doubt or reservation that I have been granted the oppor-
tunity of a lifetime to pastor Mount Carmel. And the truth is I consid-
er it a privilege to serve alongside each of you as we continue to do
what God has tasked us to do. So, on today I applaud everyone who
has contributed to making a difference in the church and community.
Mount Carmel, I love and appreciate you!
Pastor

ANNOUNCEMENTS
"Footsteps of Faith: Still Walking" Campaign
This campaign is a one year (July 2018 - July 2019) faith journey in
order to eliminate the remaining mortgage balance. We have en-
tered into our final 3-month phase of the “Footsteps of Faith: Still
Walking” Campaign. God has truly blessed us and as we remain
committed to this journey of sacrifice let’s also be committed to
a spiritual journey of fasting, meditation and prayer every
Wednesday, over the next 3 months ending on June 26, 2019.
Although some of you may not be able to turn down your physi-
cal plates, we can all give up something on Wednesdays (social
media, television, sweets, sugary drinks, coffee, etc.) that will al-
low us to have a more intimate relationship with God. Let’s be
prayerful as we achieve our goal “One Church Working Togeth-
er”. See pledge cards and envelopes in the entryway.

Against Hunger”. You may also give online at
